Kate Middleton chose a crisp green-and-white palette for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow on Friday.
The Princess of Wales—known as the Duchess of Rothesay in Scotland—wore a tailored blazer over a Breton stripe top and a floaty pleated skirt. The result? A polished yet relaxed outfit perfectly suited to the sporting event. (Skip straight to fashion overview for more details.)
The Princess attended the Games with William and their three children, George, Charlotte and Louis.
It was the boys’ first time at the Games (Charlotte attended solo with her parents back in 2022).
It was also the three children’s first ‘official’ public appearance in Scotland. (They have, of course, travelled to and visited the country on other occasions, as they stay at Balmoral each summer).
The Wales family took their seats at The Hydro to watch the netball semi-final between Australia and Jamaica.
I thought I’d point out a neat bit of symmetry about the venue: William and Kate first visited the Hydro for the 2014 Glasgow Games. Twelve years on, they’re back in the same seats with three children in tow ❤️.
After watching the netball, the royals met athletes including Scottish swimmer Archie Goodburn and English Paralympic powerlifter Mark Swan.
The family spoke with 20 volunteers who make the Games possible, and met unicorn ‘Finnie’, Glasgow 2026’s official mascot.

Next, the family of five headed into the ‘Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome’ for the Track Cycling event.
They were joined by Sir Chris himself.
Sir Chris was diagnosed with cancer in 2023. You might remember that Princess invited Sir Chris and his wife Sarra to her 2024 Together At Christmas service.
Inside the Velodrome, Kate sat with Olympic cycling star Dame Laura Kenny.
The Wales family took their seats behind the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh, who have attended the Games several times this year.
The children were given ‘Team Wales’ hats as they watched the sport. Louis proudly wore his while grinning. The older children chose to hold theirs instead.
The family finished the day with a visit to ‘Wales House’—the official central hub, celebration venue, and cultural gathering space for Team Wales athletes and their families and supporters.

The Princess returned to a tried-and-tested silhouette for the family day out: a tailored blazer worn with a floaty pleated skirt.
Kate clearly favours this formula (I have an article about this coming soon). It is easy to see why. It strikes just the right smart-casual balance for a day spent watching sport and cheering alongside her family, while still looking polished enough for official royal duties.

The green jacket was very much the hero of the outfit, lifting what might otherwise have been a simple stripes-and-white combination into something with real presence.
It’s from Ralph Lauren Collection, the American brand’s ‘Camden’ Cashmere Jacket in Dark Racing Green. (Thank you to MiddletonMaven and KateMiddletonStyled for the speedy identification!)
The double-breasted, tailored blazer is crafted from pure cashmere and features peak lapels, polished silver-tone buttons and flap pockets.
The Camden carries an RRP of around £3,100 (about $3,790). Sadly, the Dark Racing Green is a past-season colourway for Ralph Lauren; it was already sold out before Kate debuted the piece.
You can find the piece in other colours, though—an olive cashmere version at Harrods, cream cashmere at Farfetch, navy at Ralph Lauren (below) and Farfetch, and a tan leather cut at Mytheresa.
Ralph Lauren is a regular fixture in Kate’s working wardrobe—she’s worn numerous items from the American house over the years I’ve been writing this blog.
Ralph Lauren, founded in 1967, is known for its polished spin on preppy Americana. This piece comes from Ralph Lauren Collection, the label’s top-tier luxury line.
Underneath the blazer, Kate wore a black-and-white Breton-striped sweater vest from La Ligne. (Another thank you to MiddletonMaven for this ID).
The timeless nautical motif is heavily associated with summer and is often a favourite for holiday (vacation) dressing. It was also the perfect choice for the sporting event, as it was a fine-knit featherweight piece ideal for layering.
The piece is no longer available—unfortunately. I have attempted to track it down on Google. It’s now out of stock at Shopbop and on La Ligne’s own site.
La Ligne is the New York label known for its signature stripes—smart, timeless knitwear built around the Breton. This looks to be Kate’s first piece from the brand.
Now, the skirt. This one had the ID sleuths working!
The consensus (with thanks to KateMiddletonStyled and MiddletonMaven) is that the pleated white skirt is by Christopher Kane. (Like me, the other fans first thought it was the Jenni Kayne piece Kate debuted earlier this year).
It’s thought the Princess first wore the white high-waisted sunray-pleated midi skirt back in 2023, at Wimbledon (with the mint green Balmain blazer).
Kate also owns the garment in red, from the label’s Pre-Fall 2020 collection. She wore it with a coordinating sweater to a Forward Trust engagement back in October 2021 (pictured below).
Sadly, Christopher Kane wound down its retail operations after entering administration in 2023 (the designer and his sister Tammy have since bought the brand’s assets back). But the white skirt can still be found on eBay NWT in a couple of sizes.
And here’s a nice touch for a Glasgow Games: Christopher Kane is a Scottish designer, born in Newarthill, near the city. A deliberate nod, perhaps? (Or just a nice coincidence.)
On her feet, Kate wore her tan slingbacks by Camilla Elphick, the ‘Lucia’ style.
The leather shoe features a pointed toe and kitten heel. It’s finished with the label’s signature pearl buckle. The style originally retailed for £260.
Kate debuted the tan Lucia at a charity polo match in July 2023. You might remember she wore them again to the same event last month.
They’re one of several Camilla Elphick styles in her wardrobe, alongside the black Lucia slingbacks and taupe Alicia flats.
Sadly, the shoe’s not available now—Camilla Elphick Limited went into liquidation in 2025. Your best bet now is pre-loved (they turn up on Vinted and eBay occasionally).
Camilla Elphick founded her London footwear label in 2014 after training at Cordwainers and Parsons and working under names like Nicholas Kirkwood and Sophia Webster.
Let’s look at the Princess’s jewellery now, starting with her earrings. Kate brought back her Annoushka Baroque Pearl Drops.
The dainty freshwater baroque pearls are one of Kate’s most-worn pairs: first seen at the 2012 London Olympics and worn to well over 70 engagements since (she even had them on to introduce Princess Charlotte on the Lindo Wing steps).
Kate usually wears them suspended from Kiki McDonough’s ‘Classic’ hoops, crafted from 18ct gold and finished with diamonds.
The earrings are still available from Annoushka (£425 / $480) and Kiki McDonough (£1,000).
Kate wears one other item from Annoushka—the British jewellery house founded by Annoushka Ducas—the brand’s Eclipse diamond eternity ring.
Kiki McDonough is one of Kate’s most relied-upon jewellers—and her go-to for coloured-gemstone drops. She’s built quite the collection over the years. Kate wears more from Kiki than any other jeweller at present.
Kate brought back one of my FAVOURITE pieces for the Games, the Daniella Draper Gold Trio Mini Star Necklace. You can see one of the stars peeking out in this photo:
This fine gold chain features three little star charms. Each star has that kind of ‘organic’, handcrafted, relaxed look that Daniella Draper is known for.
Each necklace is made in England using recycled 9ct gold.
It’s quite easy to read the trio of stars as a subtle nod to her three children.
If you’re looking for a piece of ‘milestone jewellery’, perhaps to mark a decade birthday, a major life transition, or an anniversary, this might be one to invest in. It’s still available from Daniella Draper’s website for £745.
Daniella Draper is a British jeweller Kate returns to often, best known for the brand’s personalised charm necklaces.
Kate added a gold Halcyon Days bangle to her ensemble, the ‘Maya Torque’ style with aquamarine coloured enamel cabochons.
Kate debuted the piece publicly in 2020. She’s worn it quite frequently since: to Wimbledon, as she departed Belize during an overseas visit, on Christmas Day, to the polo and more besides. It really is quite versatile.
The piece retailed for £110 on the company’s website; it’s no longer available, unfortunately. (Though very similar pieces are available today).
Halcyon Days is a long-established British brand and Royal Warrant holder, known for its fine enamelware and jewellery. Kate owns at least two other bracelets from the company.
Let’s finish the fashion overview with Kate’s bag. The Anya Hindmarch Neeson Small Square Tote in Chalk.
The compact, handwoven leather tote features the brand’s signature woven bow at the front. The bag has adjustable handles and a zip top.
The pale chalk-coloured bag is a repeat: Kate first carried it during the 2025 Wimbledon fortnight, taking it to both the men’s final and the ladies’ final last July. She carried it to the championships again this year.

Anya Hindmarch is a label Kate has reached for several times before on the accessories front—the British house founded by the designer in London in 1987.

Kate has made a handful of appearances at the Commonwealth Games since joining the Royal Family, attending events across two days in Glasgow in 2014 and returning for the Birmingham Games in 2022.

Kate’s Commonwealth Games story began in this very city twelve years ago, when she joined Prince William and Prince Harry across two days of the Games.
On July 28th, the trio took in the gymnastics, boxing and hockey at the SSE Hydro and stopped to meet some of the troops on security duty.
Kate went smart-casual in a navy Zara blazer and skinny jeans, paired with her favourite Stuart Weitzman ‘Corkswoon’ wedges and a pair of Kiki McDonough citrine drop earrings.
Inside, she slipped off the jacket, revealing a sleeveless pinstripe blouse by Reiss.
The next day (July 29th), Kate toured the athletes’ village and met Usain Bolt before she attended a SportsAid reception.
She leaned into a blue palette again, wearing a navy blazer by Smythe over a bright blue Stella McCartney dress. She paired the ensemble with the same accessories as the day before (the Corkswoon wedges and the Kiki citrines).

Eight years on, the Princess visited the Birmingham Games wearing a crisp all-white look.
It was also a milestone day for Princess Charlotte—she conducted her first solo engagement with her parents.
The three royals cheered on the athletes and called in at SportsAid House.
Fashion-wise, Kate wore an Alexander McQueen blazer with matching trousers, Camilla Elphick’s Alicia slingbacks in taupe, and her diamond Mappin & Webb Empress earrings.
I don’t expect we’ll see a great deal more of Kate this summer, until her children return to school and the diary picks up again in September.
