Where does Kate Middleton buy her dresses? UPDATED: 2022
I frequently get asked this question, so I thought I’d answer it here. Kate is loyal to a few designers and brands. Her most-worn designer label is Alexander McQueen, closely followed by Jenny Packham and Temperley London. L.K. Bennett is a high-end high street brand frequently worn by the Duchess, she owns many dresses from the company. She’s also worn multiple pieces from Alessandra Rich, Emilia Wickstead, Erdem, Diane Von Furstenberg, Beulah London and Zara.

What styles of dress does Kate Middleton wear?
In the early years of her marriage, Kate would regularly wear pencil or fit-and-flare style dresses that hit on or above the knee. In recent years, she's gravitated towards more modest styles. She tends to opt for longer midi and maxi-length dresses nowadays. I'd say she's also a fan of shirt dresses too, she has plenty of those in her closet.
Does Kate Middleton ever wear the same dress twice?
Yes! The Duchess often wears her dresses more than once. She regularly 'repeats' them. For example, she's worn this blue dress by Stella McCartney to four different public engagements so far.
In 2021, the Duchess re-wore this lilac Alexander McQueen gown (pictured above) to the Earthshot awards, the ceremony celebrated those who are trying to help our planet. She first wore the dress in 2011, clocking up ten years between the two wears! The invite asked attendees to dress sustainably instead of buying new.
How many dresses does Kate Middleton own?
This is difficult to quantify. Of course, we can only count the dresses she wears publicly, and those we can see (sometimes, she wears dresses under her coats, which means we only get a glimpse or cannot identify them). I'd say she must have worn 200 different dresses over the last decade as a royal, easily.
Does Kate ever wear affordable dresses?
Yes! She’s worn a number of dresses from affordable high street brands over the last decade, including Topshop, ASOS, Marks & Spencer and Zara.
She’s also worn dresses from brands I’d place on the upper-end of the high street, like Reiss, Massimo Dutti, L.K. Bennett, Whistles, Boden, Jaeger, Great Plains, French Connection, Hobbs and Ghost. Definitely affordable compared to some of the expensive designer labels in her closet.
