Picking up on some recent comments by Kate fans, many have noticed that the Duchess’ hair seems a little shorter and lighter than usual in the recent pictures from the Royal Marsden. We know she spent four hours in a salon recently.
Perhaps she had her style reworked a little?
Here are some pictures for comparison:
Despite the weather conditions causing the angelic glow above Kate’s head, it is clear that her colour is ever-so-slightly lighter. I don’t think this is dye, but rather, from the summer sunshine. I’m a dark brunette and my hair goes slightly lighter through the summer too.
You can tell that the length is clearly shorter in the more recent picture, which shows Kate keeps her hair healthy by having regular trims. A lesson to us all. Especially me; I’ve not had my hair cut for 6 months!
What to ask for at the salon:
I asked my hairdressing friend Lucy what I should ask for in the salon to copy Kate’s look. She said:
“If you wanted that ‘cut’ it looks pretty much one length to me with a tiny bit of gentle layering at the front and maybe a bit at the back so I’d ask for;
Mainly one length with soft, long layers at the front to create a bit of movement and shape around the face so it doesn’t just hang.
If you wanted the ‘style’ with the curls you’d ask for;
A smooth blow dry with a bit of root lift to create bounce and then a soft, bouncy curl put in around the bottom lengths (only about a 1/3 of the way up the hair) with a large barreled tongue to create a nice frame for the face.”
Big thank you to Lucy, who specialises in wedding hair and runs a mobile hairdressing service in Nottingham.
