Kate Middleton carries the Mulberry Harlow bag in blue slate grain leather. I believe she owns the small version of the handbag.
We’ve spotted the Princess of Wales with the bag on two occasions to date. She debuted the bag during a visit to Harvard University in Boston in December 2022 during a visit to the USA. On that occasion, she carried the blue bag using the removable top handle.
In July 2023, the Princess wore the blue bag again. This time on her shoulder, with the removable chain strap, as she cheered on Prince William at a charity polo match (pictured above).
The latest outing certainly sparked excitement among royal fans, as we rarely see Kate sporting shoulder bags! It’s always a delight to witness the Princess’s more relaxed, off-duty vibe.
About the blue slate Mulberry Harlow bag:
The Harlow is a standout piece in the Mulberry collection, known for its sleek design and unique features. The bag exudes a sense of refined elegance and timeless style. Kate opted for the style in slate blue grain leather.
The double-flap front closure, which gives the bag a layered look, is one of the key features of the Harlow. This design element, coupled with the top handle, adds a touch of sophistication to the bag.
The Harlow is finished with elegant gold hardware—a twist ring inspired by Mulberry’s famous Rider’s Lock closure.
Mulberry listed this very style—the Harlow in blue leather—on Vestiaire Collective a few years ago. The bag sold in August 2021 for £395. It was a bag they’d refurbished listed as “very good condition.”
Mulberry is one of Vestiaire Collective’s brand partners. The company list several refurbished preloved handbags on the marketplace, including an Alexa Crossbody for £250 and a Bayswater for £445. Take a look here.
Where can I buy a Mulberry Harlow handbag?
The Harlow was a limited edition design for Mulberry, and is no longer available to buy, unfortunately. The company launched the design exclusively in South Korea as part of a special collection in Autumn/Winter 2019.
Today, you’ll find the Harlow bag on pre-loved sites like Vestiaire Collective and 1st Dibs. But there aren’t many available, they’re pretty rare.
Or get the look for less:
I spotted this gorgeous light blue envelope shoulder bag, complete with ring closure detail on the front, at Charles & Keith for £115. I think it’s a fantastic “repliKate” if a Mulberry handbag is not currently in your budget.
I suspect Kate bought her famous Mulberry ‘cape’ coat at the same time:
In 2019, the Princess wore a blue caped coat from Mulberry during a visit to Northern Ireland. From what I can see on this page, the coat was shown on the same runway as the Harlow bag in Seoul. I bet she purchased both pieces together?
Kate’s a big fan of Mulberry:
We know the Princess loves Mulberry handbags. She’s carried 10 different designs since joining the Royal Family in 2011. (We know she carried a couple before marrying Prince William, too. But I haven’t kept track of those.)
