On the 10th October 2017, William, Kate and Harry attended a reception at Buckingham Palace to mark World Mental Health Day.
The reception celebrated the contribution of those working in the mental health sector across the UK.
During the reception, the three royals met with representatives from a number of organisations.
Prince William delivered a short speech welcoming the attendees to Buckingham Palace:
Tonight, we are here to celebrate decades of tireless campaigning; after thousands of people have given their time and energy; and after many brave individuals have had the courage to come forward and share their stories, mental health is no longer a Cinderella issue.
You have all been invited to the palace to recognise that in the UK, we now accept that the health of our minds is as essential as the health of our bodies.
You can read the rest of the speech here.
For the previous year, William, Kate and Harry marked World Mental Health Day with a similar reception at County Hall in London, before visiting the London Eye with their charity, Heads Together. You can read more about that by clicking here.
This is Kate’s first public appearance since announcing her third pregnancy last month. Kensington Palace confirmed that Kate is still suffering from hyperemesis gravidarum (severe vomiting during pregnancy), but added that Kate was determined to attend the reception regardless.
An aide told reporters that the Duchess felt “delighted” to be able to attend the reception.
Kate’s outfit:
For the reception, Kate chose a blue lace dress by Temperley London. It’s the British designer’s Eclipse dress.
The corded lace dress features an A-line silhouette, long frilled sleeves, a pleated skirt and a contrast velvet necktie. Temperley London call powder blue colour “Iris”.
At the time of hitting publish, the dress retails for £795 / $1,095 on the designer’s website.
Kate paired the blue lace dress with familiar accessories. She carried her Mulberry Bayswater clutch bag in black suede. (Shown below in black leather). The ultra-slim clutch bag features a gold-tone closure on the front.
As you may recall, Kate owns the back in three different colours. Sadly, the company no longer makes the Bayswater clutch. If you like the style, you can still find it on eBay in multiple colours. Or, try Mulberry’s Darley clutch if you’re looking for something similar.
Kate chose her coordinating black suede Gianvito Rossi pumps for the evening reception. The shoe is Gianvito Rossi’s signature pump. It’s available in a range of heel heights, including 105mm, 100mm and 85mm.
The pumps feature a chic pointed toe and an elegant slim heel, which gives them a timeless appeal. Like all of Gianvito Rossi’s shoes, the signature pumps are hand-finished in Italy. At the time of writing, you can still purchase the black suede pumps from Net-A-Porter, MyTheresa and Selfridges.
This is another item the Duchess owns multiples of. We’ve seen her wear them in five different colours and heel heights over the last year.
Kate accessorised with her blue Kiki McDonough Topaz earrings. The 18ct white gold earrings are from Kiki McDonough’s Classics collection. They feature blue topaz stones (one oval, one cushion cut) surrounded by diamonds. They retail for £3,500.
