The Prince and Princess of Wales travelled to West Yorkshire on Tuesday for two engagements connected to the late Rob Burrow, the former Leeds Rhinos rugby player who died from motor neurone disease (MND) in 2024 at age 41.

The first visit took place at the AMT Headingley Rugby Stadium in Leeds, home of the Leeds Rhinos. The pair explored how the rugby team and their Foundation use sport to support health, education, inclusion and wellbeing across the city.
They met the club’s CEO, Jamie Jones-Buchanan, one of Rob Burrow’s lifelong friends. The visit offered an opportunity to hear about the former player’s enduring place in the Rhinos community, as well as the work being carried forward in his memory.
Former captain Danny McGuire also spoke to William and Kate about the Rugby League Development Plan, which he is leading with the Foundation. The programme aims to bring more people into the sport, help players stay involved, develop coaches and expand opportunities for women and girls.
The couple met young people taking part in the programme to hear about its impact. Kate, who is Patron of the Rugby Football League, also joined William in wishing players good luck ahead of next month’s Rugby League World Cup.
Next, William and Kate travelled to Wakefield’s DIY Kitchens Stadium to surprise Sir Kevin Sinfield at the end of the third day of his 7 in 7: The Grand Finale challenge.
The rugby league legend is undertaking his seventh and final challenge in support of the motor neurone disease community, running in memory of Rob Burrow.
Before Kevin arrived, the Prince and Princess spent time with families supported by the MND Association. Photographs released by Kensington Palace showed them sitting down for conversations around tables laid with tea and sandwiches, with Kate smiling as she chatted to a young girl.
The couple then joined members of the Burrow family to welcome Kevin at the finish. Still wearing his running kit, he stopped to speak with William and Kate on the pitch, before the couple posed with the wider group.
The appearance continued William’s support for Rob, Kevin and the MND community. In 2024, he surprised the two rugby league stars with their CBEs during a meeting at Headingley. The following year, he opened the Rob Burrow Centre for Motor Neurone Disease and met Rob’s wife and children, alongside Kevin, to hear about the difference the centre would make to families.

Kate’s outfit
Kate chose to give her green Ralph Lauren blazer an autumnal update by pairing it with black.
We first saw the jacket last month at the Commonwealth Games. Kate styled it with white and stripes for a chic, summer feel.
Today’s darker combination gave the same piece a more businesslike feel.
The double-breasted blazer features peak lapels, flap pockets and silver-tone buttons. It’s crafted from a luxurious 100% cashmere fabric.
The dark racing-green colourway is a past-season shade, and is no longer available to buy, I’m afraid.
The Camden remains available in other colours, including navy at Ralph Lauren and olive green at Harrods. Both jackets RRP for around £3,000 (just shy of $4,000 USD).
Ralph Lauren is a fixture in Kate’s wardrobe. She’s worn the brand for years, across clothing, footwear and accessories.
Founded in 1967, the American house is known for its classic, preppy style. This blazer belongs to Ralph Lauren Collection, its luxury womenswear line.
Kate paired the jacket with her black Roland Mouret ‘Axon’ trousers. Shown below on another occasion:
They have a high waist, flowing wide legs and pressed creases, with an exposed gold-tone zip at the side (shown below) which makes them very easy to identify, thankfully!
The Princess first wore the trousers in December 2021, in footage associated with her Together at Christmas carol service (shown above). They have since become a reliable part of her working wardrobe, with more than ten documented appearances over the last few years.
As the Axon is an older style, they are no longer available to buy unfortunately. I believe they originally retailed for around $960 USD.
Kate’s relationship with Roland Mouret extends beyond this one pair of trousers to colourful suits, beautifully tailored dresses and show-stopping eveningwear.
Roland Mouret is celebrated for his intuitive understanding of the female form. The designer shot to fame in 2005 with the iconic “Galaxy” dress—a figure-sculpting design coveted by celebrities the world over—and has been known ever since as a master of structure, draping and silhouette.
The brand fell into administration in late 2021 and was acquired by Self-Portrait founder Han Chong, relaunching in 2022 with its focus on precise tailoring and feminine occasionwear intact.
Kate’s black court shoes are still awaiting a firm identification. Many of us spotted the thin 'blade' style heel and initially thought she wore her Russell & Bromley courts, but Middleton Maven has suggested otherwise. She believes the heel is slimmer and the Princess wore a new pair of boots. It's hard to decipher from today's photos, as the trousers are so long. (info via What Kate Wore).
Kate’s Russell & Bromley shoes are shown below. Crafted from soft nappa leather, they feature pointed toes and distinctive 100mm blade-shaped block heels.
Kate first appeared in the Russell & Bromley pair in September 2022, when she and William met Commonwealth troops ahead of Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral. She subsequently wore them on several occasions, including a visit to Wales that same month and the 2023 Rugby World Cup quarter-final. Their recorded retail price was £245, but they are no longer available.
Underneath her blazer, Kate wore a simple black top. Middleton Maven suggests it could be the Joseph silk-blend tank, although the identification remains unconfirmed.
The sleeveless design features a round neckline and a close-fitting silhouette, making it an easy layering piece beneath tailoring.
Kate has previously worn the same style in ivory, making this a solid suggestion.
The Princess finished the look with some subtle sparkle, her Mappin & Webb Empress diamond earrings.
The white-gold drops feature intricate, openwork circular motifs set with brilliant-cut diamonds.
Kate first wore the earrings publicly at Princess Charlotte’s christening on 5th July 2015. They have remained a favourite ever since, accompanying her to dozens of engagements over more than a decade. She also owns the matching Empress pendant.
Mappin & Webb has offered several versions of the design over the years. Its current Empress collection includes a similar pair of earrings to Kate’s with 0.64 cttw of diamonds for £2,500.
The British jeweller traces its origins to a Sheffield silver workshop opened in 1775. The Empress collection draws on motifs from its archives, giving these delicate earrings their distinctive decorative shape.
