22nd May 2023 — Kate Middleton delighted attendees at the Chelsea Flower Show with an unexpected appearance.
The Princess of Wales—dressed in her famous bubblegum pink dress—shared a delightful picnic with a group of schoolchildren selected from 10 different schools.
This special gathering was part of the RHS Campaign for School Gardening, which promotes the importance of gardening among young students.
During the visit, Kate enjoyed The Savills Garden, a creation by the esteemed RHS gold medal winner, Mark Gregory. The captivating space seamlessly merges ornamental and edible plants, offering a unique and enchanting experience for all who visit.
Kate’s outfit:
Regular readers will recognise the two-tone pink dress Kate’s wore to atthe Chelsea Flower Show. It’s from ME+EM.
Kate wore the garment to meet Hold Still finalist Mila at the Palace of Holyrood House in 2021. Kate had spoken to Mila on Zoom during the pandemic and promised she’d wear a pink dress when they finally met—pink is Mila’s favourite colour.
On this occasion, the Princess paired her long pink shirt dress with a pair of wedges to give her look a relaxed, almost casual vibe, perfect for a picnic! They’re the Castañer Carina Wedges in ‘toasted brown.’
She finished her summer look with a pair of gold fern leaf earrings by Catherine Zoraida.
Gail says
Thanks for reminding us of sweet little Mila. Does anyone have an update on her? I bet she liked seeing Kate wearing the dress in her favorite color.
Maggie says
Catherine’s pink dress is such an appropriate choice for a Spring/Summer event. As are her fern leaf earrings – especially for a flower show. But I wish that those wedges would get lost in her closet.
Kris Ward says
I can’t stand those wedge espadrilles, sorry. The Middleton women seem to love them and I fail to understand WHY. Carole, Pippa, and Kate all wear them. But at least she isn’t wearing stiletto heels.
I would edit that dress by getting that hem even all the way around. I like it better with this fabric sash tied to the back as opposed to the pink suede belt from the previous wear in Scotland. The color is good on her. Carole also has this dress, but I’ll refrain from saying anything more on that.
If I was going to the Chelsea Garden Show and having a picnic lunch with some young people, I wouldn’t wear a dress and wedges.
SueM says
Oh my, the Princess of Wales looks as if she is having fun! I love the entire outfit, and especially the shoes. They are practical for such an event.
Gail says
SueM, I know many dislike espadrilles, but I will admit I have three pairs. LK Bennett makes some with a lower 2″ heel and are very comfortable. I wonder if some don’t care for the style or the big wedge on the high espadrilles.
One thing they accomplish is more coverage than a sandal but without wearing a full coverage shoe in warm weather.
I guess I don’t care if others think my Mabel suede epadrilles are unattractive. I’ve had five spinal surgeries and they work for my back. It is nice to hear someone else is in the I Like Espadrilles Corner.
