On the 2nd of May 2020, Kensington Palace released a video to mark Maternal Mental Health Week. In the video, the Duchess can be seen speaking with parents, health professionals and industry experts bout the challenges and impact that COVID-19 is having on new and expectant mothers and their families.
Kate used ‘Zoom’ to virtually visit Kingston Hospital in London. She spoke to a new mother who’d given birth only the evening before. She also spoke with midwives and discussed how the NHS Trust is supporting women before, during and after birth.
Kate has a relationship with Kingston. She undertook two days of work experience at the hospital in 2019.
Later in the video, Kate could be seen during a virtual round-table meeting with representatives from the sector.
On this call the group discussed key concerns that new and expectant parents had during this time, including apprehension about going into hospital, isolation and reduced support systems. They also discussed a potential silver lining of lockdown being the increased presence of supportive partners, with new families being able to spend more time together with their newborns. — ROYAL.UK
Outfits in the video:
The videos were filmed on two different days. In the first half of the video, Kate’s wearing a blue sweater with a white chevron design. It’s the Tabitha Webb ‘Jessie’ Sweater.
The sweater is made from a 30% cashmere 70% wool mix. Kate wears it in powder blue, but a baby pink version is available too. It costs £275 and can be pre-ordered from tabithawebb.co.uk. Lead time is around three weeks.
This is the first time we’ve seen the Duchess wear the blue sweater. Though she’s no stranger to the brand. Kate first wore Tabitha Webb to a BAFTA event in 2015.
As you can see, the Duchess is wearing a pair of gold hoops. They might be her Daniella Draper Mini Cupid Hoops with the shamrock charm removed… (Pictured below right, a closer look at the earrings on Kate from another occasion).
In the second part of the video, Kate is wearing a printed floral dress from British brand Boden. It’s the Aurora Wrap Dress in Heron Blue.
The floaty wrap dress features ditsy white florals printed on blue viscose, a tiered midi-length skirt, three-quarter-length sleeves and a waist tie. The piece is exclusive to John Lewis. It’s sadly sold out. Look for it on eBay?
Fun fact, Kate wore the blue dress in a photo used for her family Christmas card in 2019. (Shared below with thanks to WhatKateWore.com)
Kate wore a new pair of earrings with the dress. They’re the ‘Ocean Tides Milky Quartz’ design by Patrick Mavros (later confirmed on a different occasion, where it was more obvious). The earrings are handmade in Mauritius using Sterling silver, 18ct Gold milky quartz and diamond. RRP £900.
We have taken inspiration from the alluring and tranquil colours of the Indian Ocean to create these cabochon earrings with milky quartz and diamond. Expertly set and polished stones dangle elegantly from carefully crafted sea urchins. The appearance and cloudy nature of this beautiful quartz is caused by tiny water bubbles inside the quartz.
