Kate Middleton turned to a trusted wardrobe staple for today’s engagement at Evelina London.

The Princess of Wales rewore a white dress by Suzannah London as she toured the specialist children’s hospital, meeting patients, their families and staff.

Today’s outing marks the fifth time we’ve seen Kate wear the monochrome dress in public—it’s clearly a favourite. (Full fashion details below, click to skip.)

Evelina London plans to become London’s most “comprehensive, integrated children’s hospital, bringing together specialist expertise, compassionate care and family-centred support” for children and their families during the most challenging of times.

Kate heard how plans are underway to build a new hospital next to the existing site, complete with additional scanners, beds and theatres alongside state-of-the-art technology.   It’s set to open in the early 2030s.

Evelina London Children’s Charity is fundraising more than £100 million towards the project.

Today, Kate began her visit on Edward ward, a new children’s cardiac ward within the north wing at St Thomas’ Hospital. The ward has recently brought together the hospital’s world-leading children’s heart, lung and intensive care specialists on a single site, as part of a planned temporary move.

She met children being treated on the ward and their families, heard about their experiences, and learned how the ward has been designed to welcome families from across London into a bright, child-friendly environment.

From there, the Princess moved on to Galaxy ward, an outpatients unit within the Children’s Day Treatment Centre that welcomed its first patients in May 2026.

Galaxy hosts children for face-to-face heart clinic appointments, including diagnostic tests such as echocardiograms, assessments and ongoing care for children and young people with cardiac conditions.

Before leaving, Kate met members of the children’s cancer programme team, who are planning the move of highly specialist cancer and blood and marrow transplant services for children across south London and southeast England. The future Children’s Cancer Principal Treatment Centre will be based at Evelina London, bringing together expert staff from the Royal Marsden and St George’s Hospital with Evelina London’s own teams. It means children with cancer will be able to access more of the services they need in one place—including intensive care and key cancer surgery.

The Princess heard how teams from Evelina London, the Royal Marsden, St George’s and University College London Hospital have been working together to plan a safe transfer, and chatted with families and patients who are helping shape the new services and family-friendly facilities.

My favourite moment of the day? On the wards, one patient asked Kate if she was “The Queen”. She tactfully explained that no, she is the Princess of Wales. It was so sweet.  Watch below:

Kate’s been Patron of Evelina London since 2018.

Now, to the outfit—and it’s a rewear I suspect many of you will have clocked instantly.

Kate’s outfit:

The dress has a vintage-inspired shape; Suzannah has reworked the 1940s “wiggle” dress, giving it a skimming fit over the bodice and a soft, fluid skirt with plenty of movement.

The piece features short sleeves, pin-tuck detailing and contrasting black buttons that run from a double-breasted arrangement on the bodice into a single-breasted line down the skirt.

Crafted from Italian silk crepe and lined with a lightweight silk habotai, the garment is light, airy and swishy.

The dress has become a real summer stalwart in Kate’s wardrobe. As I say in the opener, this is the fifth time we’ve seen her wear it to date:

She wore it to:

  • Wimbledon, July 2019—its debut
  • Volunteering at a baby bank, August 2020
  • The Grenfell Tower memorial service, June 2022
  • The Coronation celebrations, May 2023
  • And today, at Evelina London

As you can see, the Princess has mixed up the styling over the years, swapping belts and shoes. This time, she’s added a slim black belt, thought to be borrowed from one of her Self-Portrait dresses.

She also has the same dress in dark green (shown below, a contender for the Wimbledon Finals this weekend, perhaps?).

There’s good news for anybody with this dress on their wishlist: the white and green dresses are both still available to buy off the rack. They cost £2,790 and come in UK sizes 6 to 18. Suzannah prices in pounds sterling and ships worldwide, including to the US.

I wouldn’t call Suzannah one of Kate’s go-to brands—but she has commissioned quite a few pieces from the company over the years. Beyond the two Flippy Wiggle dresses, her wardrobe includes further dresses and coats from the label—among them the rather magnificent Prince of Wales check coat she debuted for the Archbishop of Canterbury’s installation earlier this year.

If you’re new here, Suzannah London is a luxury British womenswear brand founded by Suzannah Crabb in 2006, specialising in beautifully crafted ready-to-wear and bespoke pieces.

On her feet, Kate wore black slingbacks, picking up the dress’s contrast detailing. They’re the Lucia style by Camilla Elphick.

Kate owns this particular shoe in tan, too. The leather design features a patent pointed toe, angular kitten heel and Camilla Elphick’s signature pearl buckle detail.

This is the first time we’ve seen the Princess in the black colourway. The tan version has made two appearances since 2023—my hunch is she bought both pairs at the same time. The tan retailed for £270.

Sadly, if you were hoping to add these to your own shoe collection, it’s no longer possible. The Camilla Elphick brand went into liquidation in 2025, and the company is due to be formally dissolved later this year.

Shop similar styles: Jimmy Choo, Stuart Weitzman, Holland Cooper.

In addition to the two pairs of slingbacks, Kate wears a couple of other pieces from the brand, a pair of flats and a white belt with a pearl buckle.

Camilla founded her eponymous footwear label in 2014, after graduating from the prestigious Cordwainers at the London College of Fashion.

Let’s move on to Kate’s earrings now—a familiar sight, and her most-worn pair for sure.

The baroque pearl drops are from Annoushka, and Kate wears them with Kiki McDonough ‘Classic’ yellow gold and diamond hoops.

It’s a combination she returns to time and time again for daytime engagements—more than 70 public appearances and counting.

The creamy white Annoushka pearls are attached to 18ct gold rings. The hoops are also made from 18ct gold.

Both pieces remain available from their respective companies. The Annoushka pearls will set you back £450/$625, while the Kiki diamond hoops cost £1,000.

Annoushka is run by Annoushka Ducas MBE. If you follow Kate’s style, you’ll know she regularly wore Links of London jewellery in the early years of her marriage—Annoushka founded Links of London with her husband John Ayton back in 1990. Kate’s eternity ring is also an Annoushka piece.

Kiki McDonough is a fifth-generation jeweller, often credited with introducing coloured gemstones to the British jewellery scene. Kiki’s designs are a fixture in Kate’s rotation; the Princess wears 26 pieces from the company—she doesn’t favour any other jeweller on this scale.

Last but not least, Kate’s green friendship bracelet. Rebecca English from The Daily Mail confirmed Princess Charlotte crafted the piece for her mother ahead of the Three Peaks Challenge. I think it’s sweet that the Princess kept it on for her engagement today.

That’s all for now. I’ll see you for the Wimbledon finals this weekend, if not before. (Assuming Kate will watch both the Ladies’ and Men’s Finals and hand out trophies, as in previous years). Do you have any style predictions?

I’ve recently updated this article on Kate’s Wimbledon style, and take a look back at the 28 looks she’s worn to the Championships. It’s well worth a deep dive and a trip down memory lane!
