Saturday, 7th of November 2015—the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended the Royal British Legion’s Festival of Remembrance at The Royal Albert Hall in London.
The royal couple joined Her Majesty the Queen, Prince Philip, the Earl and Countess of Wessex, the Duke of Kent, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, Princess Royal and Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence, Prince and Princess Michael of Kent and Princess Alexandra.
The Prime Minister and his wife also attended the performance.
The Festival of Remembrance is an annual event that pays tribute to all the victims of war and conflict. This is the first time William and Kate have attended.
Here’s how the BBC described the 2015 Festival on their website:
“From World War One to the present day, as the poppy petals fall from the roof of the Royal Albert Hall, the Festival will remember the many who make the ultimate sacrifice.”
A look at the Royal Albert Hall decorated festively with poppies, posted by The Army in London on Twitter:
A number of high profile acts performed at this evening’s concert, including Andrea Bocelli, Rod Stewart, Gregory Porter and Pixie Lott.
The A-list singers and musicians joined the Central Band of the Royal Air Force, the Queen’s Colour Squadron, the Band of HM Royal Marines, and the Band and Pipes of the Brigade of Gurkhas.
Kate’s outfit:
This evening Kate opted for a black lace dress by Dolce and Gabbana.
The black silk and cotton dress retails for $3,175 on the US Net-A-Porter site (low stock) and £1,670 on the UK site (where it’s now sold out).
Here’s how it’s described at Net-A-Porter –
Dolce & Gabbana’s Italian-made, timeless dress also taps into the season’s dark, enchanted mood. This sheer lace design has a detachable silk-blend slip and nips in at the waist to highlight a feminine silhouette. Work yours with opulent jewelry and point-toe pumps.
The is not the first time Kate has worn Dolce and Gabbana. As you may recall, the Duchess sported a purple dress from the brand last month.
The Duchess wore a pair of diamond drop earrings, thought to be the wedding gift from Prince Charles. You may recall that she first wore the earrings to the Canada Day celebrations back in 2011 (pictured below).
Kate’s bag should feel familiar too, it’s the Anya Hindmarch “Maud” bag. The Duchess has carried this bag for a number of years. It’s still available from AnyaHindmarch.com where it retails for £475 (approximately $726 USD).
Finally, Kate wore her black suede Jimmy Choo Aimee pumps. The Duchess has worn these a number of times recently. She owns them in both black suede and grey suede.
