On 14th September 2012, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended a Diamond Jubilee party at the British High Commissioner’s residence in Kuala Lumpur. The tea party followed a visit to a mosque earlier in the day (which you can read about here).
The High Commission of Malaysia held a contest prior to the royal visit, two lucky winners were able to attend the event to meet William and Kate. Here’s the royal couple meeting with Ashikin, the winner of the Ultimate Royal-Tea competition (under 18 category).
And here’s another picture of Kate meeting with student artists from StART, who created special “Diamond Jubilee” inspired art for the tea party.
There were a number of high-profile guests at the party, including Malaysian-Chinese designer Jimmy Choo. Here’s a picture of the pair together:
Kate has worn a number of pieces from the Jimmy Choo brand, including the Vamp sandals, the Aimee pumps and the Cosmic pumps.
Jimmy Choo no longer has links with the company he started, but when asked by reporters if he’d like to design for Kate, he replied, “‘who wouldn’t? She is the style icon of her generation”.
A few more pictures of Kate, speaking with some of the event attendees:
Malaysian singer, songwriter, record producer, television presenter and businesswomen Siti Nurhaliza attended the tea party too. She met with Kate and even managed to get a selfie! Here’s a picture from Siti’s Instagram account:
Don’t they both look gorgeous?!
And Kate also met with Paralympian medalist, Hasihin Sanawi –
Kate’s outfit:
The Duchess of Cambridge wore an ice blue lace dress to the tea party. It is a bespoke piece by Temperley London.
Here’s another look at Kate and the dress from The Daily Mail’s Rebecca English:
Kate wore a bespoke version of Temperley London’s Aster Flower Dress from the AW12 collection. Here we show the dress in black and gold:
The ‘Ready to Wear’ version of the Temperley London Aster Flower dress features a boat neckline, metallic embroidery, sheer sleeves, a flared skirt and a pure silk lining. The dress sold at Harrods for £1,550.00.
As you can see, Kate opted for a lighter colour palette, customising the dress to make it more suitable for the heat, occasion and location. She opted for cool white lace overlay on an icy blue sheath.
Kate wore her hair tied up in a chic chignon, decorated with tiny pearl pins.
As you can just make out above, Kate wore a pair of aquamarine and diamond earrings to the party. They’re still a UFO (Unidentified Fashion Object) but you can read an interesting discussion about the earrings, and see better photos, on the My Small Obsessions Facebook page.
Kate chose her L.K. Bennett Sledge pumps and Natalie straw clutch for the garden party. She often wears these accessories together.

She looks so beautiful in every photo. I love that dress (not so much the price tag). Thank you so much for posting all of her styles. She is my one and only cotemporary style icon. Keep up the fantastic job!

The dress is ok, a bit on the frumpy side like much of her wardrobe, and those hair buns have to go! That whole picture scandal was her fault, she should have known better than to strip naked on an open terrace facing a road and furthermore there were servants in that house some of which were attending to her and Will while they were out on that terrace. Where is her sense of descency? It is shameful really, that whole inicident really soured me on her.
