Kate Middleton dressed in autumn appropriate tones as she accompanied her children to a ‘settling in’ session at their new school this afternoon (7th September 2022). The duchess paired a copper brown polka dot dress by Rixo with suede heels in a similar hue.
The three youngsters will officially start at Lambrook School, a private prep school set in 52-acres of land near Windsor Castle, tomorrow following the family’s recent to Adelaide Cottage in Windsor Home Park, Berkshire.
The school, which boasts an orchard and various animals roaming on site, offers lots of outdoor learning opportunities. In recent years, Kate has focussed much of her work promoting the benefits of spending time outdoors for both educational and recreational purposes. I expect the Duke and Duchess chose the school because its ethos aligns with their beliefs.
I believe that spending time outdoors when we are young can play a role in laying the foundations for children to become happy, healthy adults.

Prince William attended the settling in session too. The annual event welcomes new pupils and their families to the school. The Duke walked into the school grounds hand-in-hand with Charlotte. Meanwhile, Kate held George and Louis’ hands as they crossed the courtyard to the school’s entrance.
The three youngsters looked very smart in their school uniforms. The boys were in blue shorts and shirts. Charlotte wore a checked dress.
Here’s a short video of the family’s arrival at the school:
Let’s look at Kate’s outfit now.
Kate’s outfit:
The Duchess chose a mid-length brown shirt dress by London-based brand, Rixo.
Crafted from a lightweight fabric decorated with polka dots, the copper brown dress features a super flattering waist panel, gathered cuffed sleeves, a collared neckline, buttons and pleated skirt.
The copper brown polka dot dress retailed at Shopbop for $375 USD / £325 GBP. Unfortunately, it is no longer available to buy.
On a budget? I’ve found this pretty fab #RepliKate at Walmart for just $20!
Does the brown dress feel familiar? Kate wore the same style in pink back in March this year, during her visit to The Bahamas.
(Paired here with an Emmy London clutch, Castanar Espadrilles and Finlay & Co Sunglasses).

Kate paired her brown dress with suede heels in a coordinating hue.
At first I thought they were the Jimmy Choo Romy 100 style, or the Gianvito Rossi 105 Gianvito pumps (Kate owns both in various colours). So I did a little investigating.
A kind Twitter user sent me a photo of Kate wearing the shoes at Royal Ascot in June. You can see some writing on the outsole—perhaps the designer’s logo. It does not match the outsoles on the Gianvito Rossi or Jimmy Choo’s shoes, unfortunately. (Or other designers Kate frequently wears like Emmy London, Aquazzura, Stuart Weitzman etc.)
For now, the shoes remain a mystery!
Finally, Kate finished the look with her Baroque Pearl Drop earrings by Annoushka.
The Duchess has owned these pretty pearl earrings for a decade. She’s worn them to 60+ public engagements to date. They’re one of her most-worn pairs of earrings.
The earrings include creamy white freshwater pearl drops attached to 18ct rings.
Annoushka describes the Baroque Pearl Drops as “the earring of choice for an elegant style with dainty, eye-catching movement.”
You can purchase the pearl drops from Annoushka.com for £395 GBP / $475 USD.
Kate usually wears her Baroque Pearl Drops with 18ct gold and diamond hoops from Kiki McDonough. It appears she’s wearing those on this occasion, too.

I think the pink is more successful on Kate than the brown polka dot. At one time I rather liked the trend, but it is getting worn a bit too much by Kate. She seems to go in one direction with her fashion and then she changes course. I guess this is one reason I like to follow her clothing choices.
It is always a treat to see the beautiful children. Is their last name Wales? I can’t keep up with the changes.

It is now Wales, yes (wasn’t at the time I wrote this post of course).

I like the solid pink, but the brown polka dots is a nice autumn colour as well.

@g.a. – Yes, from what I have read their new last name is Wales now .
