It has been confirmed that Kate gave birth to an 8 pound 6 ounce baby boy at 4.24pm London time this afternoon.
The Prince of Cambridge, whose name we do not yet know, is now third in line to the throne.
Kate and baby will remain in hospital overnight. The formal notification of the birth is on the way to Buckingham Palace, where it’ll be displayed on an easel.

Here’s the notice being put in place at Buckingham Palace:
And a close up:
Both mum and baby are doing well. Congratulations to William, Kate and the new baby Prince of Cambridge!
Apparently both families are delighted with the news, naturally!
A statement from the Prince of Wales:
“Both my wife and I are overjoyed at the arrival of my first grandchild. It is an incredibly special moment for William and Catherine and we are so thrilled for them on the birth of their baby boy.
“Grandparenthood is a unique moment in anyone’s life, as countless kind people have told me in recent months, so I am enormously proud and happy to be a grandfather for the first time and we are eagerly looking forward to seeing the baby in the near future.”
Prince William also added this brief statement:
“We could not be happier”
Tonight, he’ll be sleeping at the hospital with his wife and their newborn son.
Why not give a gift to the new Prince of Cambridge:
If you’d like to welcome the Prince of Cambridge into the world with a gift, instead of sending a teddy or card, why not spend a dollar or two on child that needs it? We’d love you to donate to Kate’s Charity EACH and help us get closer to our target. It’s the perfect way to mark this momentous occasion. Find out more about our Baby Cambridge Fundraiser here.
