The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended the London premiere of Top Gun: Maverick on Thursday, 19th of May 2022. Kate looked stunning in a black and white off-shoulder gown by Roland Mouret—there’s a full outfit breakdown further down ⬇️ the page:
The Duke and Duchess joined A-lister Tom Cruise on the red carpet.
The actor kindly assisted Kate up the stairs as they were mid-conversation.
The premiere was a Royal Film Performance in aid of The Film and Television Charity (formerly the Cinema & Television Benevolent Fund).
The Duke and Duchess met the film’s actors in front of a real Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jet, before heading inside.
Kate’s gown & accessories at the Top Gun premiere:
The evening gown is made from stretch-crepe, features an off-shoulder neckline and a fluted hem that falls to the floor.
The off-the-rack dress featured a lace inset and exposed zip at the back. Kate’s gown does not have these elements—the back of her gown is solid black and the zip is concealed (compare below).
The gown cannot be bought at the time of writing—it sold out long ago (and I am unsure of the RRP, I’m afraid.) Fancy owning a gown by the esteemed designer for your next event? Shop at The Outnet or MyTheresa.
Roland Mouret is a French designer based in London. His brand fell into administration in November 2021 and was acquired by Self-Portrait founder Han Chong one month later. It looks like the Roland Mouret brand will relaunch in autumn 2022. The Duchess has worn a handful of both Mouret and Self-Portrait designs over the last decade as a working royal.
The diamond-encrusted statement earrings feature two starburst designs, one at the top of the earring on the stud and another at the bottom of the drop. They cost £10,560 GBP (which is around $13,340 USD). They’re available to order at robinsonpelham.com.
Kate carried a black box clutch with a crystal-embellished clasp—it’s thought to be a bespoke piece by Alexander McQueen. The bag looks like two pieces from the designer’s accessory offering combined together. Namely, the black velvet body of the Beetle Box Clutch (pictured below, right) with the crystal closure from the Mini Crystal-Embellished Clutch (pictured second from the left in the composite below) on top.
Of course, Kate’s bespoke bag isn’t available to directly buy from any McQueen retailer. Find the designer’s full new season clutch bag offering at FarFetch.com. There’s a tiny silver clutch with the same crystal clasp currently on offer.
Kate first debuted the piece at the Festival of Remembrance in 2019.
Kate finished her glamorous red carpet look with a pair of Prada shoes, the ‘Wavy-Cut’ design in black suede. The Duchess has worn the heels a handful of times (in public) since 2016.
The Italian-made shoes feature a pointed toe, a three-inch heel and wavy cutout detailing on the vamp. They are no longer available to buy—they’re from a past season. They retailed for $750 USD at Neiman Marcus a few years ago.
