On the 15th of October 2019, William and Kate attended a reception at the iconic Pakistan National Monument.
The monument is an impressive structure that houses a heritage museum. It was constructed to symbolise the unity of the Pakistani people.
The couple arrived on the back of a tuk-tuk before heading into the event, which celebrated the very best of Pakistani culture and music.
Inside, the couple met with personalities from cultural, sports and political walks of life.
William delivered a passionate speech calling for the UK and Pakistan to work together over climate change.
Kate spoke with Maheen Khan, a designer whose creations she’d worn earlier in the day.
William and Kate are visiting Pakistan at the request of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
They arrived on Monday the 14th of October and will leave the country on Friday the 18th.
So far, the pair have toured a school, visited a national park, met the country’s President and took lunch with the Prime Minister.
A video from the evening:
Kate’s outfit at the reception:
Kate debuted glittering floor-length gown for the reception. It’s by Jenny Packham. It looks like Kate is wearing the designer’s Georgia dress in a custom deep shade of green.
I’m certain she will have chosen the green colour to honour her host country. As I wrote in my earlier post, green is the colour of Pakistan’s flag and is culturally significant to many Muslims and the Islamic faith.
It looks like Jenny Packham produced two off-the-rack versions of the dress in rose pink and purple for her AW 2019 collection.
For an idea of cost, the purple gown retails for £3,640 GBP at Harrods (around $4,650 USD). Here’s how the luxury British department store describes the piece:
[The dress] exudes the timeless elegance and enchanting romance for which the brand is renowned. Fitted with a tailored waistline which is further accentuated with a row of crystals, the utterly feminine design is dripping in head-to-toe sequins, delivering an audacious amount of unapologetic glamour.
Kate paired the gown with new (to me) pair of sandals. I believe they’re the Jimmy Choo Mimi 100 style. The leather sandals feature intertwined ankle straps that fasten twice around the foot.
Jimmy Choo offer the shoes in lots of different metallic shades, including silver, gold, bronze, anthracite and rose gold. I think Kate wears them in silver, but it’s difficult to know for certain.
Kate finished her look with a pair of earrings from O’NITAA, a London-based boutique that stocks South Asian Couture. O’NITAA told our friends over at UFO No More that their earrings were bespoke, made just for the Duchess. They were gold plated and featured uncut crystal stones. They cost £290. The company sell a very similar pair in their store.
We later learned that O’NITAA is the exclusive UK stockist of the periwinkle blue Mahreen Khan outfit the Duchess wore earlier in the day.
What William Wore!
William’s outfit caused a stir this evening. The Prince decided to abandon his usual suit and opted for a traditional sherwani instead. It was from Naushemian by Nauman Arfeen. On Twitter, the designer confirmed that O’NITAA dressed William for the occasion.
What do you think?
Is anybody else slightly hoping to see Kate in a colour other than blue or green tomorrow? And how about William wearing the traditional sherwani? That was unexpected! As always, add your opinion to our comment section below, or on our Facebook page.

The green gown is gorgeous. William looked self’-conscious in his green coat. He was a little red in the face when he got out of the cab!

It is a classic dress and I hope that we see it again in the future at another event. It looks simply gorgeous on her and the scarf flows nicely with the dress. William was a surprise, but a handsomely nice surprise and it was very fitting and looked exceptionally well on him. Well done by both for an evening of entertainment.

First I have to say that both look absolutley radiant.
To the green question:
Yes, I hope she might wear an other colour.
It was a very green royal day. Kate in two green outfits, Queen Mathilde wearing green at the arriving to the state visit to Luxembourg, Grand Duchess Maria Teresa wearing green at the State Banquet, Meghan recycling her green engagement dress. It’s time for an other Colour
