Kate Middleton visits Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island

The Duke and Duchess of York depart from Aeroport International Jean-Lesage in Quebec City.

On July 3rd 2011, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.  Prior to this, the couple had spent much of the day visiting Montreal.  You can read all about that by by clicking here.

Kate had changed out of the blue Erdem dress she’d worn earlier in the day, and into a champagne coloured dress by Moroccan-born designer Joseph.  Here’s a closer look at the dress:

In 2011, the dress was available to buy at My-Wardrobe.com.  This is how they described the piece:

Nude crepe sleeveless shift dress with gros grain trim belt. Joseph dress is gathered to the waist, features flat seam trim and fastens with a gros grain covered zip to the rear.

Earlier in the day, Kate wore her now famous L.K Bennett shoes.  They’re a pair of nude platform courts with a large heel:

Partway through the day, she changed into a pair of Jimmy Choo pumps in pink.  The colour shown below is “Nude Glossy”, though Jimmy Choo have confirmed Kate wore their “Powder Pink” style.  The shoes, which are made in Italy, feature a softly pointed toe, a lightly cushioned footbed, a leather lining and a leather sole.

Sadly, Jimmy Choo no longer stock the Lovely style, though their Romy 110 shoe in ballet pink is a lovely alternative if you’re looking for something similar.

In Charlottetown, Kate wore a pink and peach tweed jacket.  Information about the jacket’s designer was never released to the public, though two independent sources from the Canadian airport say Kate told them her jacket was from Chanel.  Independently, a third person has also remarked that the jacket is nearly identical to a Chanel jacket worn by one of the characters in Sex and the City.

In Charlottetown, Kate wore her Links of LondonEffervescence Bubble Stiletto” earrings.

At the time of writing, the earrings can still be purchased from:

Kate followers will recognise Kate’s straw clutch bag from the Epsom Derby.  It’s the L.K. Bennett “Natalie” clutch.

L.K. Bennett have not stocked the Natalie straw clutch bag for a while now. If you simply MUST have the same bag, eBay is your best bet.

Finally, Kate wore her sterling silver Tiffany & Co. “Diamonds by the Yard” bracelet from the Elsa Peretti collection.

Why does Duchess Kate always carry a handbag at official functions? We all know she does not pay for anything. It seems silly to me and it seems to get in her way on walkabouts. I’m sure someone in her entourage could carry anything she needs. It’s not like she needs anything in it while in public. Mrs. Obama never carries a purse/handbag at official functions so we get to see all of her outfit, not some purse cluched in front of her!!
For years, I’ve always thought it silly to see the Queen with her handbag.

I think she carries a clutch because she needs to have something for her hand(s) to do as she is in the public eye and on walkabouts. If it were me, I would feel comforted, less nervous, if I had a small clutch in one hand.
She would look awkward with a shoulder bag, which would change the clean line of her dresses and silhouette.
I think the clutch bag she uses are terrific – very elegant.

Great update! I know this isn’t the same as Kate’s jacket (worn over the Joseph dress), but I liked it and thought it might be a suitable substitute – what do you think?

Also, I’m betting Kate will wear these shoes again at some point during the tour (she can’t have just brought them to wear for a couple of hours, mostly out of sight of the public – that would be extravagant and un-Kate-like!) – perhaps for an evening function with a pale pink/nude/ivory evening dress… Time will no doubt tell 🙂
