On September 29th 2011, William and Kate visited the Royal Marsden Hospital in south London to open the Oak Centre for Children and Young People. The new unit is one of the largest comprehensive children and young people’s cancer centres in Europe.
Over 5,000 day patients and 600 inpatients will receive treatment at the Oak Centre unit every year.
While visiting the Royal Marsden, William and Kate toured the unit and spoke with many children, families and staff at the facility.
Prince William became president of The Royal Marsden in May 2007, a position previously held by his mother, Diana, Princess of Wales. It was a cause that was close to his mother’s heart and he said he felt proud to be able to carry on her work.
Kate’s outfit:
Kate wore an oatmeal coloured dress by Amanda Wakeley. The dress was named the “Sculpted Felt Long Sleeved Seamed Dress” and retailed for £450.
Kate paired the dress with her trusty L.K. Bennett Sledge2 pumps and her Natalie straw clutch by the same brand.
Kate accessorised the outfit with her Kiki McDonough Grace earrings. She also wore her silver necklace with a sparkling cross pendant. Anna from My Small Obsessions believes the piece is from an old Tiffany & Co. collection. She recalls Kate’s mother Carole wearing an identical necklace on several occasions.

Rather boring. She needs to accessorize more like Michelle Obama. For such a classic, simle dress, I would have worn some snakeskin shoes or something with pattern or pop of color. Other options could be a colorful scarf or statement necklace.

I think she has chosen the right clothes and accessories for the occasion!!!

I think she looks simply elegant and her face and hair are perfection.

I have just listed a brand new pair of UK size 5 Sledge shoes in taupe in high shine leather on Ebay – at a really reasonable price. I bought them in Selfridges but they are too small. I read this blog so wanted to let you guys know as I had been looking for them for ages. I couldn’t see where to message the author of the blog though – so sorry for posting here.
