February 27th 2021—Kensington Palace released a video of William and Kate chatting with two people who’ve been supported by the charities Diabetes UK and Asthma UK.
Diabetes UK and Asthma UK are part of a coalition of charities that have joined forces to promote vaccine uptake and provide support to those with long-term health conditions.
The couple heard from two women, Shivali and Fiona, who have been shielding with their families over the past year as they’re clinically extremely vulnerable. They told William and Kate about their experiences living through a pandemic and their anxieties about Covid-19. They also shared that they’re looking forward to receiving the vaccine and spoke of how it will have a positive impact on their lives.
During the chat, William said he and Kate both “wholeheartedly support having vaccinations”.
Kate’s outfit:
The Duchess remixed two items from her wardrobe for the video chat. The Army Green Smythe Blazer she first wore to visit Haida Gwaii, Canada in 2016 and the Holland Cooper Shirt Bodysuit she debuted in January 2021.
The green blazer is made from lightweight Italian wool. It features a notched lapel and a cut-out panel at the bottom of the back. The blazer flares a single button closure and four gold buttons on each cuff.
You can purchase the blazers from a number of locations, including Saks Fifth Avenue who describe the piece as “impeccably tailored”. Other retailers include Nordstrom, Trilogy and Revolve and of course, Smythe’s own website.
Kate also owns the same blazer in blue. She first debuted the piece in 2011 and has worn it many, many times over the last decade. The Canadian brand even renamed the blazer after Kate! (It was known as the One Button Blazer before, now it is called the Duchess Blazer.)
Kate sported her white shirt bodysuit by Holland Cooper underneath the green blazer. The company confirmed Kate wore the piece on Instagram. They say the bodysuit’s construction ensures a “flawlessly smooth fit every time” and “creates the impression of a seamlessly tucked-in blouse”.
Kate first debuted the shirt bodysuit for a phone call with nursing staff in January 2021. She wore the piece under a dark blazer that is currently unidentified.
Finally, Kate wore a new pair of earrings for the video chat (new to us, at least). It’s very difficult to see the earrings in the video, but Kate later wore them again and a solo high-quality photo released by the palace shows they look like individual pearls threaded onto a half-hoop base (see second photo below).
The Telegraph report the earrings are from the Canadian company, Mejuri. However, some in the Kate fan community disagree. You can read more about the earrings, the Organic Pearl Stacked Hoops, on this page and decide for yourself! For now, I’ve marked them as a ‘possible ID’ and shall amend the page when she wears them again.
