William and Kate surprised locals by dropping in on a street party in Kensington, London on Sunday. The Duchess looked beautiful in a blue polka dot dress paired with white accessories. (Full outfit overview further down the page. ⬇️)
The couple joined the street party a few hours before attending the Platinum Pageant with their three children.
The Pageant was the final event in a four-day celebration of the Queen’s 70-year reign, known as The Platinum Jubilee Weekend.
We saw Kate in a whopping eight different outfits—if you missed any of our Jubilee coverage—click here to catch up.
William and Kate joined the street party on Ladbroke Grove, Kensington—they chatted with locals, had a cup of tea and posed for pictures.
The street party was part of The Big Jubilee Lunch—a huge celebration that saw millions of Brits attend local community lunches and picnics up and down the country.
Other royals attended Big Jubilee Lunches too. Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice played lawn games at a street party at the Paddington Recreation Ground in London.
The Earl and Countess of Wessex joined Windsor’s Big Lunch, a record-breaking picnic on the Long Walk outside of the castle.
Meanwhile, Charles and Camilla attended a Big Lunch in The Oval cricket ground in South London.
William and Kate’s appearance wasn’t presceduled—the event wasn’t in the couple’s diary. A palace source said that it was a “last minute addition to their programme”. The Duke and Duchess “wanted to say thank you to the community for joining Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations“
Let’s take a quick look at Kate’s outfit, including her blue polka dot dress.
Kate’s blue polka dot dress & accessories:
The Duchess joined The Big Jubilee Lunch wearing a blue Alessandra Rich dress decorated with white polka dots.
The azure blue dress is made from silk crepe de chine, features pleated detailing on the bodice, mother of pearl buttons, gathered sleeves, shoulder pads and a waist belt.
There are a few key differences between the dress Kate wore and the design Alessandra Rich sold in her ready-to-wear collection. Namely the crystal embellishments on the shoulder and the crystal belt buckle—Kate had both replaced with plain blue fabric versions. See below:
It looks like Kate paired her dress with her white Jimmy Choo Romy 85 pumps. The shoes feature a pointed toe and a slim 85mm high stiletto heel.
The Duchess debuted the white shoes at Wimbledon in 2021. She also wore them during the Caribbean Tour earlier in 2022.
The Romy is a signature style for Jimmy Choo. The shoe comes in a range of heights, colours and fabrics.
Sadly, Jimmy Choo no longer sell the ROMY 85 in white leather. You can view what’s currently available on their website, here though.
Finally, we notice Kate wore her Maria Black Cha Cha pearl/gold earrings.
The Duchess debuted the pearl earrings earlier in the year, during a trip to Denmark. Maria Black is a Copenhagen-based designer.
The earrings feature a mother-of-pearl bead hanging from a sterling silver huggie hoop plated in 22-karat gold. At the time of writing, you can buy one single earring from the designer’s website for £152 GBP / $188 USD. (You’ll need to buy two earrings if you want to wear a pair like Kate.)
