November 20th 2017—William and Kate attended a family dinner at Windsor Castle, Berkshire to celebrate the Queen and Prince Philip’s 70th wedding anniversary.
The Queen and Prince Philip’s milestone anniversary will be markedly different from previous public celebrations of the diamond wedding anniversary in 2007, which included a public service of thanksgiving.
But the quiet event is at the couple’s request as the pair are said to be against traditional celebrations following the deaths of a number of close friends in recent years.

Kate’s outfit:
From the photograph above, we can tell that Kate is wearing her Diane von Furstenberg Zarita lace gown thanks to its distinctive scalloped lace neckline.
The full-length lace gown features a fitted bodice and a sweeping fluted hem. The boat neckline dips into a deep V-back.
You may remember that Kate wore the black lace dress to a gala dinner earlier in the month. She debuted the dress at the Royal Variety Performance in 2014.
Kate’s wearing the Queen’s necklace this evening. It’s known as The Four Row Japanese Pearl Choker. It’s the first time we’ve seen her wear it.
The necklace includes four rows of pearls with a central diamond clasp in a curved shape, each side including three rows of diamonds that join at the top and bottom with marquise diamonds. According to Garrard: The Crown Jewellers for 150 Years, the Queen commissioned this from a set of the “finest cultured pearls presented to her by the Japanese government.” She made her first state visit to Japan in 1975; the choker was in use by at least 1982.

Kate paired the choker with a pair of earrings from Princess Diana’s collection. They’re often referred to as the Collingwood Pearl and Diamond Earrings.
Collingwood, the Spencer family jewellers, gifted Diana with the earrings on her wedding day. Kate first wore them to a State Banquet earlier in the year.
Note: There’s another photograph of Kate leaving the dinner, which I can’t licence for the blog, unfortunately. (But if you click here it’ll open in a new tab). In the photo, you can see Kate’s wearing a black wool coat over the top of her dress.
A reader of the WhatKateWore blog believes that the Duchess is wearing the Alexander McQueen Textured Long Coat. The two ladies have compared the design of the coat to photos of Kate leaving the party and they think it’s a match.
From the horizontal lapel line, thick rib cuffs and texture visible in the photo, I believe Kate was wearing this coat t […] You can see the random spacing between the ‘nubby’ bits a little better on [the white version of the coat] Kate via What Kate Wore Facebook Page
The coat is made in Italy using a blend of cashmere, wool and mohair. It features a wide lapel, a concealed front button placket, two front pockets and exposed seam detailing. The coat has long sleeves with turn-up cuffs and a straight hem. The coat retailed for $2,225 at FarFetch.com.

Oh, what a lovely family occasion. And I love the nods to Diana in her jewelry.
The black lace dress is a bit of a downer. Hopefully she’ll wear something lighter, like an updated take on that orange-organza thing Diana wore with it? Oh, ’80s fashion. *sigh* I love it. So fairy tale princessy.
