The Prince and Princess of Wales marked their 14th wedding anniversary with a special visit to the picturesque Isle of Mull on Tuesday.

The trip formed part of a two-day tour of the Inner Hebrides aimed at strengthening ties with rural island communities while highlighting the importance of social connection and environmental stewardship.

William and Kate, known as the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay in Scotland, spent the afternoon in Tobermory, Mull’s capital.

The Scottish town is famed for its colourful harborfront buildings.

It’s also known for the BBC children’s show Balamory, which was filmed in the town.
The pair received a rousing welcome on arrival. More than 200 locals and tourists lined the main street to greet them with a cheer.

Aros Hall was their first stop. The hall is a much-loved community hub and multifunctional space at the heart of the harbour town.

It is community-owned and run, and home to a program that saves food from landfill, a charity shop, a lunch club and an events hall.

It’s also home to ‘Rainydays’, a children’s play area that’s used by Home-Start Lorn—a service that provides practical and emotional support to parents/carers with one or more children under 5 years old.
Inside Aros Hall, William and Kate met with some of the volunteers from Home-Start Lorn. As you will probably know, early years is one of Kate’s focus areas.

The Princess is passionate about the early years and launched the Royal Foundation Centre for Early Childhood in 2021.

Her work champions the vital importance of the first five years of life, and the Princess wants to shift how society understands and supports children’s development.
Aros Hall has undergone renovations recently, including having the ‘Rainydays’ space converted into a soft play area.

Kate spoke to new mothers about the facility’s services and confessed she “wished there had been a similar place” when she was a first-time mum living in Anglesey—recalling how she resorted to visiting a supermarket café with Prince George just to get out and see other people.

The renovations in Aros Hall were funded by a grant of an “undisclosed amount” donated by William and Kate’s Royal Foundation.
The money was used to renovate facilities, update communal spaces and carry out repairs. Another grant was provided to a hall on the south side of Mull for the same reason.
During their visit, William and Kate were asked to add a couple of flowers on a newly painted mural.

William said that Kate is the “artistic one” in the family, as he volunteered for her to go first.

During the visit, Kate also revealed that she received an unconventional present for Christmas this year—a chainsaw!

It’s not revealed who brought the item for the Princess, nor if it was a gift she had actually requested!
The surprising revelation came as William and Kate helped put the finishing touches on a new ‘surround‘ that’ll be used for the community food bank fridge.
Kate wielding a nail gun:

Handing his wife the nail gun, William warned her to be careful, otherwise the visit would be “remembered for all the wrong reasons”.

Next, the pair headed outside to visit a bustling artisan market showcasing Mull’s thriving creative scene.

Arranged by Aros Hall, the market featured work by local makers, artists and food producers.

William and Kate sampled wares, browsed stalls and conversed with both traders and onlookers.

At one point, a journalist overheard one man discussing his cancer diagnosis with the princess.
Kate spoke with one stallkeeper about beekeeping, stating that she’s still very new to it and saying it is her project for the summer.

She asked for tips and said she’d have to take the vendor’s number so she could phone for advice.
Later, the Duke and Duchess travelled into the island’s lush countryside, where they visited a local croft (small farm) to learn more about sustainable farming and the island’s growing hospitality sector.

This engagement reflected the couple’s broader interest in environmental conservation and supporting agrarian livelihoods.

The couple toured the croft’s 50 acres and heard first-hand from farmers and producers about the importance of championing local enterprise.

They also picked fresh produce and saw the Hebridean sheep farmed on the site.

Before leaving, the royals assisted with some outdoor cooking, helping to prepare a “community feast”.

Fittingly, Mull–a remote island with just 3,000 residents–offered an intimate setting for the Waleses to mark their anniversary.
The palace press office tweeted out this lovely photo during the evening. The couple share an embrace in front of the stunning scenery:

It’s reported that the pair spent their anniversary evening in a self-catered holiday cottage on the island.

There’ll be no luxury hotel amenities, fancy spa treatments or room service, though. Apparently, the cottage is surrounded by nothing but nature. Which I expect will suit the Prince and Princess just fine.

Kate—in particular—has spoken about the role of ‘mother nature’ over the last year or so, and its importance as she’s navigated her diagnosis and treatment.
Now, it’s time for the fashion portion of the post. Let’s take a look at Kate’s outfit for day one of her visit to the Isle of Mull.
Kate’s outfit:
This is a quintessential ‘country Kate‘ outfit, isn’t it?

It works for the rural surroundings, but has the refinement expected of a royal. It’s elevated yet approachable. Practical yet polished.
Though I’ll be honest—I’d have given anything for a bit more colour! Perhaps to reflect the colourful Tobermory houses and the glorious spring weather. It was slightly disappointing to see her wearing brown yet again. Ah well!
Her blazer is new, it’s by Holland Cooper. It’s the British company’s ‘Double Breasted Blazer in Large Scale Brown Herringbone.’

The sharply tailored blazer featured bold lapels and subtle hip pockets. It’s crafted from a non-stretchy mid-weight 100% tweed fabric in a large-scale brown herringbone pattern, which adds a classic touch. The piece is finished with a luxury stretch lining for extra comfort, and the brand’s signature gold buttons on the front and cuffs.

The £549 blazer is available in all sizes at Holland Cooper at the time of writing.
The Princess has been seen wearing Holland Cooper on multiple occasions—they’ve become one of her most trusted labels for polished, heritage-inspired style. She owns other blazers from the company too, including the same design in black twill.

The British brand—founded by Jade Holland Cooper—has carved out a niche with its tailored outerwear and equestrian-influenced staples, both of which align perfectly with Kate’s country-meets-city aesthetic.

The brand’s craftsmanship and attention to detail are unmistakable, which is likely a big reason why the Princess keeps reaching for them.
Under, the Princess layered a blue linen button-up shirt by Boden—the high-end high street favourite and another British brand.

The shirt’s cuffs artfully peeked out from under the blazer’s cuffs, giving a preppy layered effect.

The shirt, Boden’s ‘Longline Linen Safari Shirt’ in ‘Chambray’ (a soft, washed-out blue) features a relaxed fit with safari-inspired detailing, including chest flap pockets, roll-tab sleeves and shoulder epaulettes.

It’s crafted from a mixture of recycled and non-recycled linen—a detail that won’t have passed Kate by. As fashion fans will know, she’s always buying clothing made from sustainable fibres.

If you need a new longline shirt, you’re in luck. The piece is available in most sizes (UK6-22) at Boden for £98. At the time of writing, the brand is running a 15% off promotion with the code PQ4D. The shirt also comes in larch green.
Boden is a cornerstone in Kate’s royal wardrobe, she owns at least 11 other items from the brand. It’s clear the Princess appreciates the company’s mix of quality, comfort, and style. She gravitates towards Boden’s knitwear in particular; we’ve seen her sport a number of cardigans and sweaters from the brand in various colours.

If you’re seeking an effortlessly elegant, distinctly British look, Boden is a go-to. The British clothing retailer is known for its high-quality, stylish and timeless apparel. It’s garnered a loyal following due to its blend of classic and contemporary fashion, plus its reputation for sustainability and ethical practices.
Next, let’s look at Kate’s trousers. They are from Massimo Dutti, she wears the ‘Skinny Fit High Rise Satin Trousers’ in the colour ‘chocolate’.

The five-pocket skinny trousers are made from a blend of cotton and TENCEL Lyocell, which offers a soft, satin-like finish. TENCEL is derived from sustainably managed forests, which again aligns with Kate’s eco-conscious fashion choices.

These trousers have been a staple in the Princess’s wardrobe for a few years. The Princess previously wore them during visits to the Fakenham Garden Centre in June 2020 and the Northolt Scouts in September 2020.
I think the trousers are a perfect choice for engagements like this—with their satin finish and tailored fit, they elevate a casual outfit just enough. I suppose denim is a little too relaxed and better reserved for more informal engagements. Meanwhile, traditional tailoring would feel overdressed.
Sadly, Massimo Dutti no longer sell the trousers—they’re several years old and out of stock. They originally retailed for $69.90.
For those hoping to ‘RepliKate’, this pair of chocolate brown trousers from Holland Cooper are a good alternative.
Massimo Dutti may not be British, but it’s earned a place in Kate’s fashion rotation thanks to its refined, understated elegance. Kate’s been spotted in everything from the company’s tailored coats to their sleek wide-leg trousers over the years.
The Spanish label is known for its clean lines, luxe fabrics, and elevated basics—perfect for the Princess’s polished yet unfussy style. It’s the kind of brand that nails quiet luxury.
Kate’s trusty brown combat boots are a repeat, too. Let’s look at those now. They’re from See by Chloé. They’re the ideal shoe for navigating harbours, playrooms and farmyards alike.

The leather-trimmed suede ankle boots feature a lace-up design with gold-tone metal eyelets, a stacked heel and rugged sole.

Kate has worn these boots to more than 10 royal engagements to date, all with casual country outfits, on visits that involve outdoor activities.
See by Chloé is the younger, more relaxed sister line to French luxury house Chloé. It has only made one other appearance in Kate’s wardrobe to date—a cream fit and flare dress worn to two summer parties.
Kate debuted the boots in 2019, so as you’d expect, the company no longer produce the style. They’re no longer available to buy.
I do have a fab repliKate for anybody hoping to buy a similar pair, the £249 ‘Strokestown’ boots from Dubarry.com.
Let’s finish with a look at Kate’s jewellery now. I’m going to start with the new item in her collection (new to us anyway) the Kiki McDonough Pear Drop earrings in ‘blue topaz’.

The faceted blue topaz stones are cut into a pear drop shape and suspended from 18ct gold hoops.

Kate selected the earrings to echo the chambray tones of her shirt, adding a subtle pop of colour without overpowering the look.
At the time of writing, the earrings retail for £695 and are available to buy. If you’re not into blue topaz, other gemstones are available too (and chances are, Kate also owns them as she has these earrings in multiple colours).
Regular readers will know that Kiki McDonough has become almost synonymous with Kate’s jewellery box. I believe the Princess owns more than 20 pieces from the British jeweller. From radiant citrine drops to delicate green amethyst earrings, Kate has worn Kiki McDonough pieces for everything from official portraits to public appearances.
Kiki McDonough’s known for wearable luxury—colourful, classic designs that are easy to style every day, yet special enough to feel like heirlooms.
Let’s discuss her necklaces now. She layered two personalised pieces by Daniella Draper—both bearing the initials “G”, “C” and “L” in tribute to her children.

The first necklace, the “Fixed Alphabet Necklace” features the three initials suspended from a fine gold chain that’s made from 9ct recycled gold. It’s quite understated, which means it’s good for wearing alone or layering with other pieces—which Kate chose to do in this instance. This piece has been part of the Princess’s collection since 2021 and this is the third time we’ve spotted her wearing it to date.

Kate layered it alongside the “Gold Trio Midnight Moon” necklace, which is also crafted from recycled yellow gold and features three sparkling diamonds. This necklace is also a tribute to her children, as it’s engraved with their three intitlals. We’ve seen Kate wear this piece more regularly, she’s worn it on at least 16 prior occasions—many of the engagements were early years related, I’ve noticed (though not exclusively!)

Daniella Draper still sells both items, the ‘initial‘ necklace starts at £300 (the cost increases for longer chain lengths), while the ‘Midnight Moon’ pendant costs considerably more at £1,300 due to the diamond—the piece listed on Draper’s website only features one diamond so I’m assuming Kate (or a family member) commissioned her piece, requesting three diamonds.

Daniella Draper has become a quiet staple in Kate’s jewellery collection in recent years. We know that she owns five necklaces and two pairs of earrings from the company.
Draper’s brand’s become known for it’s handcrafted, sustainable designs that have an organic, almost rugged charm. Although luxurious and meticulously crafted, the pieces have a sort of ‘low key’, lived-in feel. The aesthetic works well with Kate’s relaxed, outdoor ensembles in my opinion.
Onto some familiar accessories now, Kate’s watch is the 33mm Cartier Ballon Bleu in stainless steel, which she’s owned since around 2013 or 2014. I believe she started wearing the piece after Prince George was born, and I always assumed it was a practical choice so she could keep her eye on the time for feeds, naps etc.

The watch has a silvered opaline dial with blue sword-shaped hands and Roman numeral hour markers and a blue synthetic spinel cabochon.
Today, you can purchase the exact watch at Goldsmiths for £5,900.
Kate’s sunglasses are from another British brand, Finlay & Co.—In an email, a PR rep for the brand confirms they’re the Vivian style in ‘Marble.’

These sunglasses feature a subtly upswept lens shape that blends effortlessly into soft bevelled detailing, embodying graceful glamour. Handmade from sustainable Mazzucchelli acetate and fitted with Zeiss sun lenses, they provide full UVA/UVB protection, ensuring both style and functionality.
For anybody hoping to score a pair, you’re in luck. They’re in stock (£120 / $240). The ‘marble’ colour worn by Kate is available, as are several other style options. You can even have the frames with prescription lenses, if needed.
To date, we’ve spotted Kate wearing the sunglasses just once, to a polo match in 2023. But we do know she owns another pair from the same company.
The independant British brand is known for its handcrafted frames and timeless unisex styles. Finlay & Co. is an eyewear brand staffed by enthusiasts from trained optometrists offering eye tests in store to the experienced framemakers based in the foothills of the Italian alps.
