Kate Middleton maintained her long-standing tradition at the Easter Matins Service at St George’s Chapel in Windsor on Sunday.

The Princess of Wales chose to rewear a dress instead of debuting something new—something she’s done consistently since attending her first Easter service with the Royal Family at Windsor in 2017.

While Kate’s outfits have varied in colour and style since her first Easter at Windsor, they’ve all had one thing in common—they’ve all been recycled from a previous engagement. She’s never worn a new look to the service.
The Princess repeated her cream ‘Lace Detail Midi Dress‘ by Self-Portrait—first seen in 2022 during a joint engagement with Princess Anne (pictured below). At the time, the dress retailed for around £400.

The cream dress was the clear centrepiece of this year’s look.

The polished, structured design reads as a jacket and skirt at first glance—but is in fact a single garment.
The dress features a tailored, blazer-style bodice with a notch lapel and peplum waist that falls into a softly flared skirt.

The standout detail is the intricate lace appliqué across the bodice.

The dress is made from 100% polyester crepe. The shoulders are accentuated with shoulder pads.
While the exact style is no longer available to buy, the brand continues to offer similar cream blazer-style dresses through retailers such as Selfridges and Mytheresa, as well as via its own website.
Regular readers will know the Princess is a longstanding fan of Self-Portrait. We’ve spotted her wearing 11 pieces from the brand to date, including six variations of the brand’s signature blazer-dress silhouette.

I think Kate returns to this silhouette time and time again because of its versatility. The dress does all the heavy lifting of a formal outfit without needing much else to complete the look.
Right, onto Kate’s hat now. The Princess topped her ensemble with a new teardrop-shaped percher hat by Juliette Botterill in a soft cream tone.

The teardrop-shaped hat features delicate fabric oak leaf appliqués.

We know the oak leaf holds special significance for Kate—it’s a central motif in the Middleton family coat of arms, where an oak tree represents the family and three acorn sprigs symbolise the three Middleton children. Kate has nodded to the symbol several times through her fashion and jewellery choices over the years.

Juliette Botterill lists the hat under her Autumn-Winter 2025 collection, priced at £680.
The sculptural design perches on a slim headband with hat elastic. It can be made in alternative colours if you have a special event coming up and need a bespoke option to match an outfit.
The piece appears to be a new addition to the Princess’s collection, making it the only fresh element in an otherwise entirely re-worn ensemble.
Kate has favoured Juliette Botterill hats in recent months, turning to the designer for several high-profile events—including last month’s enthronement service at Canterbury Cathedral.
Let’s look at Kate’s jewellery and accessories now, starting with her earrings. The Princess brought back the Bahrain Pearl Drop Earrings.

The earrings are part of the Royal Collection. They feature one large round diamond at the top, with a geometric arrangement of baguette and smaller round diamonds underneath. A Bahrain pearl dangles below.
The pearl drops originate from a shell containing seven large pearls, given to the then Princess Elizabeth and Lieutenant Philip Mountbatten in 1947 as a wedding gift from the ruler of Bahrain. Two of those pearls were used to create this pair of earrings.
Kate first wore the earrings in November 2016 for Remembrance Sunday and has reached for them regularly ever since—we’ve tracked 19 outings to date. She tends to reserve them for more formal or significant occasions: e.g. Trooping the Colour, state events, the Festival of Remembrance and services of thanksgiving, etc.
Next, Kate’s cross necklace. I’ll keep this one short, as there’s not much we know. The Princess has owned the silver-coloured pendant for more than a decade.

The exact origin remains unknown. Kate’s worn the necklace on several occasions during her time in the Royal Family, but we’ve never been able to identify the piece. It appears to be set with diamonds.

Now to Kate’s handbag—the Princess carried her DeMellier Nano Montreal bag in Deep Toffee Smooth.

The compact top-handle bag features a sleek tubular handle and two oversized gold bars on the closure.

The bag comes with a removable crossbody strap, which Kate always removes to carry the bag by its handle. The exterior is crafted from smooth cowhide leather with a black cotton lining.
The Princess first carried the bag in May 2021 at the launch of Hold Still. Sunday’s outing marks its fifth public appearance.
Kate clearly rates the Nano Montreal bag, as she bought a second in navy blue.
The £330 Toffee Smooth Nano Montreal currently shows as ‘sold out’ on DeMellier’s website. It’s unclear whether the brand has discontinued the item or if it’s the Kate effect striking again — selling out on the back of her appearance—and will be restocked soon.
If the bag doesn’t come back into stock, the brand’s Paris top-handle bag in tan is an attractive alternative.
Kate owns three DeMellier bags in total: the two Nano Montreals and a Small Hudson, which she debuted during a hospital visit in January this year.
It’s worth noting that DeMellier is a brand with purpose—the London-based label uses sustainably sourced materials and donates a percentage of profits to fund children’s vaccines through its partnership with SOS Children’s Villages. An interesting connection, given Kate has had three public engagements with the same charity.
Let’s finish the fashion portion of this post with a look at Kate’s shoes now. The Princess wore her Ralph Lauren Celia pumps in ‘Gold Brown’.

The Italian-made court shoe features a sharp pointed toe, a sculpted topline and a 4″ heel, with a padded branded leather insole.

The warm golden-brown tone has proved incredibly versatile — we’ve seen her pair them with everything from a bold blue dress at Wimbledon to an olive green suit at a children’s centre visit. She also owns the same style in black (a more recent addition to her closet).
Kate first debuted the gold-brown shoes in September 2020 during a visit to London. Sunday’s outing makes it their tenth public appearance to date.
If you’re hoping to get your hands on Kate’s shoes, you’re out of luck, I’m afraid. The exact style is no longer available. It’s not all bad news, though. Ralph Lauren’s Tenney pump (£731) is nearly identical. The only real difference is the heel, which is covered in matching golden brown leather rather than the Celia’s darker, wooden-look finish.
Ralph Lauren also stocks the ‘Armissa’ pump in golden brown, which the brand describes as a lower-heeled version of the Celia.
Kate is no stranger to Ralph Lauren—she owns sweaters, boots, dresses and jackets by the brand, making them one of her clear go-tos for royal engagements.

This was Kate’s first Easter service in three years. The Princess missed the previous two while focusing on her cancer treatment and recovery.

The Princess joined her whole family for the service—she was accompanied by Prince William and their three children.

It was lovely to see the whole family together at Windsor—and even lovelier to see Kate back at the Easter service after her absense.
Louis and George looked dapper in blue suits that echoed their father’s, while Charlotte’s brown coat complemented Kate’s cream palette nicely. The event marked the Wales children’s first public appearance of 2026.

The King and Queen led the royals. They were joined by Princess Anne, Sir Tim Laurence and the Duke of Edinburgh with his son James, Earl of Wessex. The Duchess of Edinburgh skipped the service due to feeling “under the weather,” according to reports, while Lady Louise was busy with her studies at St Andrews University.
Peter Phillips attended with his daughters Isla and Savannah Phillips, as well as his fiancée, Harriet Sperling, and her daughter Georgina. Lady Sarah Chatto and Daniel Chatto completed the royal party.
I’ll be updating our Easter outfits roundup shortly with this year’s look.
