The Duchess of Cambridge (Kate Middleton) has carried this pretty beaded and floral embroidered clutch since 2017. We first saw it at a garden party in 2017, then twice at Wimbledon. First in 2019 and then in 2021. She recently carried the piece to the G7 Leaders’ reception at the Eden Project in Cornwall.
We think it’s a vintage piece by Josef.
About the floral beaded clutch:
Embroidered floral and leaf motifs in coral, blue, gold and green tones decorate this pretty bag. They’re surrounded by thousands of ivory-coloured beads.
This piece is labelled as being made in France and it features a snap closure.
It’s a vintage piece, likely from BAGS BY JOSEF and dates to around the 1930s-1940s. (There’s a very similar clutch on the 1stDibs website here with this information).
Antiquepeek.com sold a similar bag. They state the piece features Tambour Embroidery in the Point de Beauvais stitch.
Josef has been well known for carrying some of the most fashionable of the French made beaded evening bags” antiquepeek.com
