Jess Collett ‘Carmen’ panama fedora hat in ivory/tan

Kate Middleton owns Jess Collett’s Carmen Panama Fedora—a wide-brimmed ivory sun hat trimmed with a tan ribbon.

The Princess debuted the hat at the 2026 Wimbledon Ladies’ Singles Final, where its cool ivory-and-tan palette offset her striking red Roland Mouret dress.

It joins a small but growing collection of sun hats Kate reserves for the Championships—she’s previously shaded Centre Court in her L.K. Bennett saffron sun hat.

About the Carmen Panama Fedora:

The Carmen is a wide-brimmed Panama fedora in ivory, finished with a ribbon around the crown.

Kate wears the tan ribbon version; it’s also offered with yellow and red bows.

Jess Collett describes the piece as “the summer hat of the season“—equally at home, in the milliner’s words, courtside, poolside or tableside. On the biggest day of the British tennis calendar, the Princess clearly agreed.

Where to buy:

The Carmen Panama Fedora is available directly from Jess Collett’s website for £585 (around $784).

One word of warning: the milliner notes stock is limited—and if past form is anything to go by, Kate’s seal of approval tends to speed things along. If you’ve got your eye on it, don’t dawdle.

Kate Middleton and Jess Collett:

Kate’s relationship with Jess Collett is small but significant. The milliner co-created (with Alexander McQueen) the silver leaf headpiece the Princess wore to King Charles’s Coronation in 2023 (below)—arguably one of the most photographed headpieces of the decade.

Kate returned to the milliner in 2025, wearing a bespoke pink version of the ‘Rita’ boater—a collaboration with Samantha Cameron’s label Cefinn—to welcome President Macron during the French State Visit (below). The Carmen is her third piece from the milliner.

Jess Collett is a Middleton family favourite, too: she’s made hats and headbands for Kate’s sister Pippa on multiple occasions.

About Jess Collett:

Jess Collett is a couture milliner based in London’s Notting Hill, where she’s been handcrafting hats for more than 25 years.

She launched her business with a loan from The Prince’s Trust—the youth charity founded by the now King. There’s a rather lovely full-circle quality to that: a milliner who started out with the King’s charity going on to create a headpiece for his Coronation.

Her pieces are made at her London studio, with bespoke commissions made to order.
