Kate visits EACH’s Treehouse hospice & gives her first public speech

On March 19th 2012, The Duchess of Cambridge formally opened The Treehouse hospice in Ipswich, where she toured the facilities and met children and families who receive support and care from the charity. After the tour, Kate made her first public address and then planted a tree in the grounds of The Treehouse hospice to commemorate the occasion. Kate in green coat dress by Emilia Wickstead for St. Patrick’s Day

In March 2012, Kate arrived at Mons Barracks in Aldershot to present Irish Guard soldiers with shamrocks to mark St. Patrick’s Day.  This was Kate's official first solo military engagement. During the presentation, Kate also pinned shamrocks to the collar of a very special member of the regiment:  their mascot, an Irish Wolfhound dog named Conmeal. On March 15th 2012, Duchess Kate played hockey with Team GB at Olympic Park. Later in the afternoon, Kate changed into a grey pleated dress for an engagement at Dulwich Picture Gallery with Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall. She shoots, she scores: Kate plays hockey at the Olympic Park

In March 2012, Duchess Kate visited the Olympic Park to visit the British hockey team ahead of the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics, in her capacity as ambassador for Team GB. She wore refreshingly bright patriotic colours and a smart-casual outfit during her visit. The Duchess of Cambridge's L.K. Bennett "Jude" pelum jacket and teal "Davina" dress were highly popular with fans.  The Duchess wore the outfit in Leicester as part of the Jubilee visit with The Queen in 2012. On March 8th 2012, The Duchess of Cambridge accompanied The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh on a trip to Leicester as part of the 2012 Diamond Jubilee Celebrations. Kate and The Queen travelled to De Montfort University where they watched a student fashion show. Kate could be seen chatting with Her Majesty, the pair seemed to be getting on well and both looked as if they enjoyed themselves. As part of this year’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations, The Duchess of Cambridge attended an event at the plush London department store Fortnum & Mason yesterday. Catherine accompanied the Queen and Camila, the Duchess of Cornwall; the royal trio spent an hour touring the store, before the Queen unveiled a plaque to commemorate the regeneration of the Piccadilly area.
