Kate Middleton was back in the Royal Box at Wimbledon this afternoon.
The Princess of Wales wore a royal purple dress by Safiyaa as she watched the thrilling Men’s Final between Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz on Centre Court.
Following the clash, Kate presented the trophy to the winner, Alcadaz, who beat Djokovic to the title.
The Princess was joined by her daughter, Princess Charlotte, and her sister, Pippa Middleton Matthews.
It was Kate’s first public appearance since Trooping The Colour last month and her second appearance of 2024 so far. This is, of course, due to her ongoing chemotherapy treatment following abdominal surgery in January and her subsequent cancer diagnosis.
Before heading into the Royal Box, the two Princesses met with former Ladies’ champions in the Centre Court Clubhouse. Here’s yesterday’s tournament winner, Barbora Krejcikova, showing Princess Charlotte her winning racket.
The two princesses also spoke with Flora Johnson, Lily Miyazaki, Lucy Shaker, Sonny Kartal and Emma Raducanu in the Players Lounge, before meeting young people from the ‘Work at Wimbledon’ initiative. ‘Work at Wimbledon’ helps young people from disadvantaged backgrounds access roles at The Championships.
As Kate took her seat in the Royal Box to watch play, she received a standing ovation from the Wimbledon crowd. Her sister and daughter looked on with pride.
It looks like Charlotte had a good time and enjoyed the tennis:
We know Kate is a huge tennis fan. This is the 25th time she’s attended since joining the Royal Family in 2011. We also know she attended twice as a ‘civilian’ before marrying William. The Princess has been patron of the All England Club since 2016.
Let’s take a look at Kate’s fantastic outfit today:
Kate’s Wimbledon look:
Kate opted for a midi dress in a striking shade of purple for today’s Wimbledon Final.
The dress featured a flattering ’twist’ detail bodice, short sleeves with a subtle puff detail and a midi-length skirt. It’s the Cecilia dress by Safiyaa London.
The smooth, high-quality crepe fabric drapes beautifully. The midi length and structured design ensure elegance and comfort, suitable for a full day of spectating and presenting trophies.
As usual, Kate’s dress is a masterful choice. The royal purple hue perfectly aligns with the Wimbledon palette and is a thoughtful nod to the event’s heritage and branding. The club has used a similar purple alongside green and white as their official colours since 1909.
This is the first time she’s worn purple to The Championships though. She’s worn green, white, cream and tennis-ball yellow multiple times before now.
Would this regal purple dress suit your next big occasion? Find it at Safiyaa.com for £1,295. Each dress is made to order in the brand’s atelier and shipped to the buyer within 7 working days.
This is the second time we’ve seen Kate wearing a dress by the London-based label Safiyaa. She debuted her first garment, a long-sleeved gown, at last year’s Royal Variety Performance.
Daniela Karnuts founded Safiyaa in 2011. The label is named after her daughter. With a focus on craftsmanship and quality, the label’s designs are distinguished by their precise tailoring and exquisite detailing, appealing to those who appreciate high-end fashion with a personal touch.
Let’s move on to Kate’s beige boxy handbag now. It’s the ‘Milly’ style by L.K. Bennett in the colour ‘trench.’
The London-based brand describes the leather bag as 1960s-inspired. It features gold-tone metal hardware and pretty brogue detailing. Kate uses the grab handle and has removed the crossbody strap.
Kate first carried the bag at an engagement with US First Lady Jill Biden in 2021. This is only its second public appearance to date.
The piece previously retailed at lkbennett.com for £225 but is long sold out, unfortunately.
Kate has frequently worn L.K. Bennett clothing and carried their accessories since joining the Royal Family in 2011. She was particularly fond of their footwear for a while, and regularly opts for their dresses at public engagements.
L.K. Bennett, established in 1990 by Linda Bennett, is a renowned British fashion brand known for its elegant, timeless designs and commitment to quality.
Kate brought back a familiar pair of shoes for the Wimbledon Final. They’re the tan ‘Lucia’ pumps by Camilla Elphick.
The neutral-tan leather shoes feature a pointed toe in a contrasting patent material. The slingback has an angular kitten heel and is finished with Camilla Elphick’s signature pearl buckle.
Kate publicly debuted the angular kitten-heeled slingbacks at a polo match last summer.
Want to buy the stylish shoes? You’re in luck. They can be pre-ordered from Camilla Elphick’s website and will be delivered after the 18th of September. They cost £270 per pair.
Kate owns one other pair of Camilla Elphick shoes, the Alicia slingback flats. She added those to her closet in 2022.
Camilla founded her eponymous footwear brand in 2014, after graduating from the prestigious Cordwainers at the London College of Fashion. The designer describes her footwear as having “a feminine edge and British charm”.
Let’s move on to Kate’s gold jewellery now. She’s wearing two bracelets by Halcyon Days:
The thicker bracelet on the top is the brand’s Salamander Torque Bangle in ‘Forget-Me-Not.’ Kate first wore it to Wimbledon last year. This is the first time we’ve seen it in public since. It’s crafted from 18ct gold-plated brass and is fitted with pastel purple coloured glass cabochons at either end. RRP £150 and is currently sold out.
The smaller, thinner bracelet looks like the brand’s Hammered Torque Bangle – I think it’s probably also finished with the ‘Forget-Me-Not’ cabochons at either end. I haven’t managed to verify this yet. This is the first time we’ve spotted the Princess wearing the item. RRP: £125 and also currently sold out.
Kate owns a third bangle by Halcyon Days—the Maya bangle—which she’s worn 10 times since 2020, suggesting she’s a fan of the company and their jewellery.
Halcyon Days, founded in 1950, is a distinguished British brand celebrated for its exquisite handcrafted luxury goods, particularly enamelware and jewellery. It’s known for its top-notch craftsmanship and timeless designs. It holds three Royal Warrants, making it a favourite of the British Royal Family.
Let’s look at Kate’s gold earrings now. It looks like she’s wearing the By Pariah Sabine Hoops in size medium (thanks to Caroline Parr & Danielle via Middleton Maven for the ID).
The handmade earrings are made from 14kt gold vermeil on recycled sterling silver hoops. Find the earrings at bypariah.com for £400 (low stock at the time of writing).
By Pariah is a modern fine jewellery brand founded by Sophie Howard in 2016. The designer has a keen sculptural eye, a love of raw, natural materials and a commitment to sustainability and conscientious craftsmanship. This is the first time we’ve spotted the Princess wearing jewellery from the brand — but I suspect it won’t be the last.
Let’s finish up by looking at Kate’s sunglasses. They’re by Victoria Beckham:
The black oversized square-shaped sunglasses offer 100% UV protection and feature tonal lenses for a sleek look. They are manufactured from plastic in Italy.
I believe the style code is VB644S. Find them at Eyeconic in two different colours for $325. Alternatively, shop a similar pair at VictoriaBeckham.com.
Kate’s no stranger to the Victoria Beckham label. We’ve spotted her in one dress by the former Spice Girl, plus she’s carried one of the designer’s handbags on several occasions.
Victoria Beckham founded her eponymous brand in 2008, launching with a collection of dresses. After much success, the brand has expanded to include ready-to-wear, footwear, expertly crafted eyewear and timeless leather goods.
The brand has won critical acclaim alongside multiple industry awards including Best Designer Brand and Brand of the Year at the BFC’s Fashion Awards.
I’m tired and it’s getting late, so I will aim to return with an update about what Pippa and Charlotte wore soon.

I love all the details in your blog. I didn’t realize the color of Catherine’s dress was a color associated with the event for so long. The fabric draping on this dress is flattering and gives Kate a bit of shape after going through treatment.
It was nice to see Pippa and Charlotte with Catherine. Charlotte is amazingly poised for such a young lady. William and Kate have done an excellent job of introducing them to the limelight.
