On the evening of 21st November 2023, Kate Middleton, attended a State Banquet held in honour of the South Korean President.
The event, a grand affair at Buckingham Palace, saw members of the royal family and dignitaries from South Korea coming together.
For the prestigious occasion, The Princess was the epitome of royal glamour. She chose an ethereal white gown by Jenny Packham that gracefully accentuated her silhouette, a perfect choice for the formal setting of the banquet.
Adding to the splendour, she wore the historic Strathmore Rose Tiara, an heirloom piece rich in royal heritage. The tiara, coupled with her sparkling gown, complemented the grandeur of the event.
The Princess brought back her ivory Anya Hindmarch Maud clutch and wore a pair of opera gloves, confirmed to be by Paula Rowan.
Kate finished the look with a pair of Queen Elizabeth II’s diamond pendant earrings, and her glittering Gianvito Rossi Rania pumps.

Beautiful gown and the sleeve embellishments are great. Personally I would have made those using silver threads and clear rhinestones to play off the tiara. But I guess I’m a ‘matchy-matchy’ person and I don’t think the gold embellishments look perfect with the diamond tiara. Also the dress is just a little too long, it’s dragging on the floor. I really love the sleeves on this gown, great design!!!! The shoes are gorgeous too.
The tiara is beautiful. It would look better with one of Kate’s famous up-dos. The hairstyle here doesn’t work very well.
This gown would look better without those gloves. I think opera gloves always look great with sleeveless gowns, or a gown with a small cap sleeve, but with this gown I don’t care for them at all. They also seem a bit big. Do people actually eat dinner with this sort of glove on??
The yellow ribbon medallion the Royal women wear always detracts from the overall look. If I was King Charles, I’d ditch those ribbons and just have the diamond encrusted medallion! hahaha. (So many opinions here, obviously I need to take a ‘time out’.)

I think the etiquette is to remove the right glove to shake hands and before dining. I am making a guess on this based on photos of royals during formal occasions.
I love seeing a new tiara. My opinion mirrors Kris about Catherine’s hair style. I believe Kate had an updo earlier in the day and I think that would have looked perfect with this gown.

I also agree about the hairstyle, and the yellow ribbon! No wonder the ladies so often wear white – quite a challenge to co-ordinate with a royal blue/red/white striped sash plus a primrose yellow bow…
The tiara is absolutely gorgeous, and overall this is a dreamy outfit. The only other tweak I’d make would be smaller earrings – a floral diamond and gold button style perhaps? sure there must be something like that in the vaults! – in keeping with the vintage of the Strathmore. The earrings here are incredible, but compete too much with the tiara, which ought to be the star of the show.

Hi Carly,
Prinses Catherine looked stunning. She never disappoints.
Since there was a delay in your post, I hope you are okee?
My question concerns the Packham dress, what kind of material is used? The fabric has a great deal of influence in how the dress “moves”, falls ,influence of light, how the seams look.
Another question; those opera gloves, when do you take them off? My guess is that you don’t wear them during dinner. I have seen Queen Elisabeth , with gloves and beautiful bracelets making/ taking formal toasts. Those bracelets won’t make it easy to take gloves of gracefully for the dinner.
Last question, the pictures are a feast for the eye. What I never read is the input for the nose. What kind of perfume does Prinses Catherine use, and does she select a different kind for these gala’s? And I guess with all the antique pearls ( not on this gala diner) one has to be careful with the use of perfume, I guess.
Thank you for the interesting posts
