On the 6th of July 2019, William and Kate attended the christening of their nephew Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. Archie’s parents Meghan and Harry chose the Private Chapel at Windsor Castle for the intimate ceremony.
The official portrait (above) features Harry and Meghan with baby Archie, Charles, Camilla, William, Kate, Meghan’s mum Doria and Diana’s sisters Jane Fellowes and Sarah McCorquodale.
Kate’s outfit at the christening:
Kate wore a pink dress by Stella McCartney.
The dress features a high neckline with a rose and bow embellishment, long sleeves, a pencil skirt and a pleated panel down the front.
Does Kate’s outfit feel familiar? That’s because she wore a very similar dress back in 2011 for a private dinner to celebrate Prince Philip’s 90th birthday. Here’s a reminder:
As you’ll notice, the two dresses are practically identical. There’s just one difference: the fabric.
Here’s how BrownsFashion.com described the original dress in 2011:
Coral coloured pleated pencil dress. A rose and bow detail sits on the high neck. A zip fastening runs down the back. Long sleeves. A pleated panel runs down the front of the dress. High waist. The hemline falls to the knee. This stunning dress by Stella McCartney in a stylish hue works for day or night with statement heels and accessories, as seen on Madonna.
It was widely reported at the time that Kate purchased the original dress from Stella McCartney’s SS 2009 collection. According to Grazia magazine, she bought it on sale for £305. The original price was £1,425.
Kate paired the pink dress with her red heels by Gianvito Rossi. The suede shoes feature an elegant pointed toe and a slim heel.
Kate owns the shoe in five different colours. She wears the style frequently. The company stock the shoe in a range of heel heights, but we believe Kate wears the 105mm height.
Kate’s hairband is by Juliette Botterill Millinery. It looks like it’s been modified from the Pleated Pillbox design on the designer’s website. It’s described as “a straw pillbox with silk abaca pleated detail edging”.
Finally, Kate wore Princess Diana’s Collingwood pearl and diamond drop earrings. Fun fact: Diana wore the same earrings to Prince Harry’s Christening back in 1984!

I think that this is a lovely, lovely ensemble. I love how the Duchess combined the pink colored dress with red shoes and reddish/cranberry hairband! Gorgeous color combo! I think she stole the fashion show at this event. Perfect.
