The Duchess of Cambridge (Kate Middleton) regularly pulls pieces from the back of her wardrobe, re-wearing them after a few years—or longer, as in the case of this Whistles blouse. This blouse dates back to 2008, though one article states Kate purchased it in 2009. Kate famously wore it for her engagement portrait 2010 (taken by Mario Testino).
Fast forward 11 years and the blouse has made a comeback. This time, Kate wore it to speak with four-year-old girl Mila. The conversation took place over the phone and was later uploaded to the Duke and Duchess’ new YouTube channel.
About the blouse:
The blouse is made from 100% silk and features a ruffle/frill detail on the front. It originally retailed for £95.
The reissued blouse:
In 2011, Whistles reissued the blouse with the style name “Kate”.
The newer blouse has a mandarin collar and the buttons are concealed behind the placket. The older blouse, worn by Kate, features a pointed collar and visible buttons. The updated piece was described as an “ivory woven silk blouse with a frill detail a the centre front, finished with an eyelash trim.” It retailed for £125.
NOTE: It is the updated KATE version of the blouse pictured at the top of this page. I could not find a stock photo for the original blouse worn by the Duchess.
