Kate Middleton owns a red cardigan by Miu Miu.
The Princess of Wales has worn the red cardigan twice to date, both times during events related to her annual Together At Christmas Carol Concert.
We first saw the Princess wear the Miu Miu cardigan during an introduction filmed for the 2021 Together At Christmas concert (above). She elegantly reprised the cardigan in 2023, for a special Together At Christmas tea party (below).
I like to picture Kate sitting with her personal assistant, planning outfits for upcoming engagements. “OK, so the Christmas Carol Concert. I need something festive. It has to say ‘Christmas jumper’ without actually being a Christmas jumper…it needs to be stylish”. The assistant clicks around the internet, looking for something that fits the brief. “This?” She asks, showing a cardigan by Miu Miu. The piece is as red as Santa’s suit and finished with mother of pearl buttons. “Perfect,” says Kate, handing over her credit card.
About the red cardigan:
Kate’s festive cardigan features a black and white rose pattern that repeats across the jacquard-woven cashmere knit and is decorated with tactile bobbles. The lustrous mother-of-pearl buttons add a touch of glamour. The piece is finished with a detachable white cotton collar.
Where can I buy Kate’s Miu Miu cardigan?
The cardigan cost £1,350 at Net-A-Porter.com. It’s no longer available, sadly.
Get the look:
I’ve tried to find similar cardigans for anybody hoping to copy Kate’s festive look. Let’s start with this fab knit from ba&sh:
It features the same boxy silhouette and vibrant colour. It’s finished with statement buttons and tweed-effect stitching. Shop it at ba-sh.com.
My second find is this fab cropped coatigan from Sandro:
It also features the boxy shape, statement buttons and contrast colour—albeit in black instead of white. Find it at sandro-paris.com.
Has Kate Middleton worn clothing from Miu Miu before?
Yes! We know she owns two other items from the Italian fashion brand (that we know of). The first is a red suede bag with a bow embellishment. We’ve seen the Duchess carry this several times since 2016 (pictured below during a visit to Vancouver). In 2017, she chose a festive tartan coat by Miu Miu for the traditional Christmas Day service at St Mary’s Church.
About Miu Miu:
Miu Miu is a subsidiary of Prada, started by Miuccia Prada in 1992.
The Prada group successfully repositioned Miu Miu as a prominent high fashion brand known for its avant-garde, provocative style. With clothes that feature painstaking attention to detail and quality, the designs evoke a sense of freedom in a classic style for the luxury Italian label.
