Kate embraced country-chic on Christmas morning 2021, stepping out in a brown checked coat* by Blazé Milano, paired with a feather-adorned fedora by Philip Treacy.
Photographed through a car window, the Princess was seen wearing the stylish ensemble as she and four other royals made their way to the festive service at St Mary Magdalene Church.
*At the time, we initially believed Kate wore a blazer, as Blazé Milano only stocked the check print in that style, and the garment’s full length wasn’t visible in photos. However, she has since worn the same check print twice—as a full-length coat—during visits to the Royal Marsden Hospital in January 2025 and HMP Sayal in February 2025. This suggests she owns the coat, not the blazer.
About the coat:
I am going to assume the coat is adapted from the blazer, shown below. The blazer features structured shoulders, a cinched waist and double-breasted tailoring.
It’s made from breathable wool and features a navy windowpane check. The blazer features Blazé Milano’s signature curved pockets. I believe the piece is from the label’s pre-fall 2021 collection.
Kate almost exclusively wears sustainable labels now, and Blazé Milano is no exception. The brand is working towards sustainability, partnering with the Green Future Project and taking steps to reduce the impact of their activities on the planet. They are planting a tree for every sale they receive.
Buying the brown check coat/blazer:
Moda Operandi and Net A Porter both stocked the blazer ($1,805 / $1,245 respectively.) Sadly, it’s now sold out at both stores.
As far as I know, the brand do not carry the coat on their website. I’ve never seen a stock photo of it. Kate might have commissioned it, or the brand might have sent her a sample? I am unsure.
