On February 21st 2012, Kate visited special art therapy rooms set up by The Art Room charity at two schools in Oxford. Kate is Patron of The Art Room Charity. First, Kate visited Rose Hill Primary School in Oxford where eight children were working on the Edward Lear poem, "The Owl And The Pussycat". Kate in Hobbs & Oasis for Liverpool visit on Valentine’s Day

In 2012, William and Kate spent their first Valentine's Day as a married couple separately, as the Prince was on deployment in the Falkland Islands. However, Kate did not let this bother her. Instead, in what I would assume was a conscious and purposeful decision, she spent the day bringing cheer to the hearts of many people in Liverpool, in northwest England. In February 2012, The Duchess of Cambridge conducted her first solo public engagement.  She visited the National Portrait Gallery for a preview of the new Lucian Freud Portraits exhibition.
