Wednesday, March 17th 2021—William and Kate wished the people of Ireland a happy St Patrick’s Day in a video message shared to the Irish Foreign Ministry’s social media pages. She wore an apple green blazer by Zara. Watch the video message below:
The couple joined a number of world leaders sending greetings to Irish people, including President of America Joe Biden, Prime Minister of Canada Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of New Zealand Jacinda Ardern and Prime Minister of Australia Scott Morrison.
The royal couple appeared in several minutes of the video. William started by speaking in Irish and then asked Kate “how come you got the easy bit” when she continued in English.
They also spoke of the “warm welcome” they received in Ireland during their short tour last year:
We were so thrilled to be able to visit Ireland just over a year ago, a few short weeks before all of our lives were turned upside down by the pandemic. We know that for Irish people all around the world today won’t be the same as normal, but we hope you can celebrate safely in any case.
William
The warm welcome that we received everywhere was a testament to the friendship between our two countries, and the strength of the relationship between the UK and Ireland.

Kate’s outfit on St Patrick’s Day 2021:
Kate often gives a nod to the occasion using her clothing, and today was no different. To celebrate St Patrick’s Day, the Duchess wore a green blazer with jewellery featuring shamrock charms.
Of course, green is Ireland’s national colour and the shamrock is their national plant. The bouclé jacket from Spanish brand Zara. It’s the company’s Textured Double-Breasted Blazer in apple green (£59.99).
Sadly, the piece is already out of stock. (It might be worth checking eBay if you’re looking for the jacket.)
The apple green blazer is made from a bouclé polyester-acrylic blend fabric and features contrasting stitching throughout. It also has a lapel collar, long sleeves, front welt pockets with flaps, a double-breasted front and metal buttons.
The Duchess paired the green blazer with a shamrock charm necklace and matching earrings, both by British jewellery designer Daniella Draper.
Kate first debuted the necklace during her visit to Ireland last year. The piece is made from 100% recycled 9ct gold. Kate wears the shamrock charm earrings on hoops also by Daniella Draper.
A look at some of Kate’s previous St Patrick’s Day outfits, just for fun. Kate often spends St Patrick’s Day handing out shamrocks to the Irish Guard. She took on the traditional role after joining the Royal Family. She’ll often wear a green coat with a gold shamrock brooch by Cartier.
