Kate Middleton debuted this grey, white, black and pink plaid dress by Alessandra Rich at an engagement with the Women’s Institute on September 8th, 2025.

The royal engagement marked the third anniversary of the death of the late Queen Elizabeth II.
This is the only time we’ve spotted the Princess wearing the dress, to date.
About the dress:
The dress features puffed short sleeves with a fitted cuff, which provides a structured yet feminine shape.

There are four large, statement buttons down the bodice, which feature a crystal centre, surrounded by a halo of rhinestones. The dress also has a peplum at the waist and a wide, pointed collar—both offer a retro feel.

The dress is crafted from a woven check fabric with a base of black and white plaid, with subtle accents of pink throughout.

It’s quite a clever dress—the heritage check pattern looks quite sober, but the playful pink adds a subtle, contemporary twist.
Editorialist shows the dress was available at Harrods for $2,137 before it went on sale for 33% off ($1,415). It’s now out of stock at the retailer.
