On the 8th of May 2025, the Princess of Wales attended a Service of Thanksgiving at Westminster Abbey, exactly 80 years to the day since Victory in Europe was declared.

The Princess joined King Charles III, Queen Camilla, and Prince William, among other dignitaries, in honouring the WWII generation.
The service included a national two-minute silence and the laying of wreaths at the Abbey’s Grave of the Unknown Warrior (led by the King and Prince William.
During the remembrance rites, Kate stood alongside Queen Camilla, and afterwards she was seen warmly engaging with veteran attendees—at one point crouching down to chat with an elderly former servicewoman in a wheelchair, listening to her wartime stories.
The ceremony paid tribute to all those who served and sacrificed during World War II.
Kate’s outfit:
Dress: The Princess rewore her white silk midi dress by Alessandra Rich, the garment is decorated with a polka dot print. It’s thought to be custom-made for the Princess. The long-sleeved dress features a high neck, padded 1980s-style shoulders, pleating, and a vent at the back. It was first worn by the Princess at the Order of the Garter service in June 2023.

Hat: Kate wore the “Flower and Feather Teardrop” Hat by Juliette Botterill—a black teardrop-shaped hat adorned with silk flowers and feathers. The Princess had a small veil (birdcage-style) added to this hat for the memorial service. She previously wore this headpiece (without the veil) at the Remembrance Sunday service in 2024.
Handbag: Kate brought back her DeMellier London “Nano Montreal” Handbag in Deep Toffee. This compact top-handle satchel is British-made and measures about 7″ x 6″. It features a structured handle and removable strap. She has carried this structured mini-bag on several prior outings.
Shoes: Kate opted for the Ralph Lauren “Celia” Pumps once again(after wearing them with the plum purple dress on Monday). The caramel-toffee brown leather pumps feature a pointed toe and a 4-inch heel. Kate debuted them in 2020. The warm neutral tone of the shoes complemented her handbag.
Earrings: The Princess wore Princess Diana’s Collingwood Pearl Drop Earrings with the ensemble. The elegant earrings feature large teardrop pearls suspended from a diamond scroll setting. The antique earrings were a wedding gift from Collingwood Jewellers to Princess Diana in 1981. Kate’s worn them to many formal occasions.
