Kate Middleton repeated her trusted burgundy Roland Mouret suit for a surprise visit to Charing Cross Hospital on Thursday.

The Princess of Wales looked poised and polished in the tonal outfit as she caught a group of healthcare workers mid-tea break.

Along with her husband, both joint patrons of NHS Charities Together, Kate heard first-hand accounts of the pressures facing NHS workers during the winter virus season.

The couple also met with volunteers supported by the charity, whose work helps improve patient care while easing pressure on frontline teams.

Later in the visit, the pair joined a roundtable discussion with NHS charity CEOs and trustees, alongside policymakers and philanthropists, to explore the vital role charitable funding plays in supporting staff wellbeing and strengthening NHS services.

Now, let’s look at the Princess’s tonal burgundy outfit:
Kate’s outfit:
For the visit, Kate returned to one of her most reliable wardrobe staples, a burgundy suit by Roland Mouret.

It’s a look royal watchers will instantly recognise; she’s worn it on four other occasions. First, during a visit to Boston with The Earthshot Awards in 2022. Then, for the England Wheelchair Rugby League winners’ reception in 2023. Later in the year, she brought it back for the Shaping Us Symposium reception (pictured below). In 2024, she wore it once again to meet Liz Hatton and her family at Windsor Castle.

I love the suit’s deep burgundy tone. I think it’s perfect for this type of engagement. It hits that sweet spot between polished and practical; it’s smart enough for an official visit, yet softer and more approachable than black or navy.
Kate pushed up the blazer’s sleeves during the visit. It’s a small styling tweak, but one that subtly shifted the tone, giving the outfit a more approachable, relaxed feel as she chatted with volunteers, patients and staff.

Let’s look at each piece in turn now.
The burgundy suit: Roland Mouret (repeat wear)
The foundation of the look was Kate’s burgundy suit by Roland Mouret, a sharply tailored set with a structured blazer and elongating wide-leg trousers.

The tailored blazer features a single-button closure, peak lapels and flap pockets that sit at a slight angle. The wide-leg trousers skim the floor, feature a crease down the front and have a slight flare.

Roland Mouet stock the suit in black cady, cream satin crepe and khaki green satin crepe (shown below) at the time of writing. Prices RRP from £340 for the jacket and from £150 for the trousers (sale items).

The burgundy suit was stocked at Net-A-Porter.com some time ago (it’s no longer available, unfortunately).
Kate’s clearly a fan of this suit. In addition to the burgundy, we know she owns the style in two other colours: camel and grey (a practical style hack for any busy mum—buy what you like in every colour available!)

Besides suits, Kate’s worn numerous items from Roland Mouret since she joined the Royal Family in 2011. We’ve spotted her in several of the designer’s dresses and gowns, plus a pair of wide-leg trousers.
Roland Mouret is a French fashion designer who founded his eponymous luxury womenswear brand in London in 1998. He’s known for clean, confident lines, sculptural necklines, and artfully draped dresses, along with knits and structured separates tailored for the contemporary woman.
The burgundy top: ME+EM
Kate refreshed the familiar suit by pairing it with a new sleeveless silk top from ME+EM in a closely matched burgundy tone.

The top is cut from matte silk and features a high neckline with an optional scarf-style tie, falling to a soft, fluid straight fit.

The sleeveless cut is deliberately streamlined, designed to sit neatly under blazers and coats without adding bulk, making it an ideal under-a-jacket piece for working engagements.

The sleeveless cut also made sense once Kate pushed up her blazer sleeves, allowing the outfit to shift easily into a more relaxed, approachable mode as she spent time chatting.
It’s crafted from 100% silk, in a luxurious midweight matte texture that has a soft feel against the skin.
Kate removed the scarf for the visit, keeping the neckline clean and understated.

The sleeveless top is currently part of ME+EM’s collection with an RRP of $345. At the time of writing, most sizes remain in stock with 30% off, at $241.50 .
ME+EM is a brand Kate returns to regularly, particularly for modern, work-ready staples.
Known for its emphasis on fit, fabric and wearability, the label has become a go-to for pieces that quietly earn their place in her wardrobe.
The brown suede bag: DeMellier “Small Hudson”
Let’s look at her highly coveted bag now. It’s a fan favourite. It’s the Small Hudson style by DeMellier—the petite version of one of the brand’s bestselling designs. Kate carries it in mocha suede, which neatly complements the rich tones of her outfit.

The bag features clean lines and a distinctive gold clasp on the front. It’s crafted from rich brown suede, offset with smooth leather accents.

The Small Hudson retails for £415 and is currently available to pre-order, with deliveries expected by the end of March. As with all DeMellier pieces, it is ethically made and covered by the brand’s lifetime repairs service.

We’ve seen the Princess carry this design twice before. She debuted the item during a visit to the Anna Freud Centre in November 2025, and we saw it again on Christmas Day, December 2025.
Kate is steadily building a small but thoughtful collection of bags from DeMellier. In addition to the Small Hudson, she owns the Nano Montreal style in Toffee and has also carried the same design in navy leather.
While DeMellier’s clean lines and structured shapes slot neatly into Kate’s polished wardrobe, the brand’s strong ethical credentials are likely just as appealing. Formerly known as Milli Millu, the London-based label was founded in 2017 by Mireia Llusia-Lindh and is known for its modern, timeless handbags. Each piece is handcrafted in Spain using responsibly sourced materials, and through its A Bag, A Life initiative, the brand funds life-saving vaccines for children with every bag sold.
The brown suede pointed heels: TBC
Kate finished her look with a pair of classic brown suede court shoes.

I need to have a better look at them, but consensus grows that they’re the Russell & Bromley “Pinpoint” style she’s worn since 2016.
Once confirmed, I’ll update this section with full details.
The gold hoop earrings: Cartier “Trinity”
Kate kept her jewellery pared back, finishing the look with her much-loved Cartier “Trinity” hoops.

The iconic design features three interlocking bands of yellow, white and rose gold.

She’s worn the earrings 7 times in public since their debut a year ago.
Small and unfussy, the earrings added just enough polish without distracting from the tailoring or the tonal richness of the outfit.
The earrings retail for £3,050 in the UK and $3,200 in the US at Cartier.com.
The Princess must be a fan of the Trinity collection, which celebrated its 100th anniversary last year. She’s worn multiple pieces. In fact, these earrings are the fifth ‘Trinity’ item we’ve spotted her wearing to date. She owns a stainless steel watch and a sapphire ring from the French brand. I should also give an honourable mention to her wedding tiara, too, also a Cartier gem.
That’s all for now. Just a quick note to say that it’s Kate’s birthday tomorrow. I’ll be back with another post if a new photograph is released.
