One of Kate’s most popular accessories with fans is her iconic grey Tod’s D-styling bag (also known as the Tod’s D-bag). The Duchess she has carried the grey bag on a number of occasions throughout the last couple of years (usually in private). Here’s a (blurry) picture of Kate carrying the bag IN RECENT MONTHS during a trip to Norfolk here:
You can find more pictures of Kate carrying the bag on Google, here.
The Telegraph’s Fashion website says the grey leather Tod’s bag would have cost Kate around £915 (or USD $1,415 at todays rates). A hefty sum!
Today I’d like to share my ‘RepliKate of the week’, which I first spotted on Pinterest a couple of days ago! (For those who are new to the site, “RepliKate” is a play on words – replicate or replica! Basically a copy of something Kate has worn!)
My RepliKate for the Tod’s D-styling bag is a more affordable alternative, in a similar colour and style to the Tod’s bag carried by Kate. It is a more affordable USD $248 / £173. It’s the Liebeskind “Marilyn Botalato” satchel from Nordstrom. It comes in a gorgeous grey blue colour and is made from leather. Let’s take a look at a comparison:
I have not digitally altered the colours (I just removed the background in one photo) so as you can see, the colours look pretty identical. Though Nordstrom do list the Liebeskind alternative as “blue.”
For those who don’t already know, in mainland USA Nordstrom offer both free shipping and free returns, which is handy. They also ship to a number of other countries too, including the UK.
Kate and Tod’s D-styling Bags:
As many fashion fans will realise, the “D-styling bag” was re-named in honour of the late Diana, Princess of Wales who was a fan of the style. Kate has carried two different updated versions of the bag, in grey (as seen above) and in a lighter brown colour too. (Click here for those pictures). (If you’re interested, our alternative version from Nordstrom ALSO comes in a light brown colour too!!)
Today, the bag Tod’s D-styling bag is no longer available in the colour Kate carried, but there are still a range of colours to choose from, as you can see in the widget below:
