Steal Kate’s Style: Black Sequinned Clutch Bag

Last night, The Duchess of Cambridge attended the Action on Addiction Autumn Evening Gala, wearing a beautiful black dress by Temperley London and her Jimmy Choo Cosmic heels.

It was the third engagement in as many days for the Duchess, who has just announced her second pregnancy.

To the event, Kate carried a clutch bag that we’ve not seen before.  It’s the first time she has carried it to a public engagement (though we have reason to believe that the clutch might actually date back to around 2010.)

The clutch bag featured a semi-circle closure flap and a black beaded or sequinned fan design, which I feel is quite Gatsby-era inspired.   Sadly, we do not know which label or brand made the pretty bag – and if it is an older piece, it’s unlikely we’ll ever learn where it’s from.

However, if you’d like to get Kate’s style, you’re in luck.  Yesterday, when searching for Kate’s clutch bag online, I found this very similar design from brand “Together”, sold at the shop “Kaleidoscope.”

Here’s how Kaleidoscope describe the bag:

For a touch of Gatsby inspired glamour, our gorgeous beaded and sequinned clutch bag with lovely scalloping detail is the perfect choice for parties.

The bag features a detachable long silver chain. It’s lined with satin. It’s very reasonably priced, at only £29.00.

The bag also features a scalloped edge on the sequinned flap.

I think this little black clutch bag is a fantastic RepliKate.  It’s the perfect piece for Christmas Eve and New Years Eve – ideal if you’re looking for something similar to Kate’s bag for the upcoming party season.

Do you know of any other repliKates? Have you seen a good copy of this bag? Let me know over on Facebook, or by leaving a comment below this article. Thanks!

  1. I always wonder if some of her unidentified things might not have been with her for a time and once belonged to her mom. I know I surely acquired a number of my mom’s beaded evening bags from the 1950s when I needed them for HS and college dances in the early 60s and they never quite made their way back to mom! I still have 2 of them with me today.

You could be right! I’m guessing we’ll never know – BUT Carole, Pippa and Kate ALL share clothing, we’ve seen plenty of evidence of that. So it certainly could be a possibility.
